Two apple trees sit at the front of the property with a huge crepe myrtle in the center that brings beautiful pink blooms in the summer months. Upon entering the home you’ll be welcomed with high ceilings and French doors that lead to the sitting room equipped with a decorative fireplace set in stone and a solid wood mantle. You’ll feel like you stepped back in time as you take in the original beadboard walls throughout the house, but you’ll have access to modern amenities such as a lighted, jetted jacuzzi and high-speed internet. The downstairs master bedroom features a king size bed, blackout curtains, decorative fireplace, walk-in closet, and access to the rain shower, jacuzzi bath, and fireplace. The second downstairs bedroom features a queen size bed and black out curtains. Upstairs is a reading nook, play area, and a bathroom with a shower. The upstairs master features a Smart TV and a second master bathroom with a clawfoot tub and vanity original to the add-on. Bedroom number 4 has a queen bed and desk with a mountain view, while bedroom number 5 has two full beds, a desk, and a Smart TV. Enjoy some time outdoors with plenty of seating on the front porch with views of the beautiful property and mountain. In the warmer months expect to see lots of butterflies and hummingbirds enjoying the butterfly gardens and rose bushes. On the back porch, you will find a bar seating to enjoy an evening outside. A large firepit in the backyard is perfect for keeping warm on a cool evening. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house with the exception of the woodburning fireplaces. Other things to note This is an old house and there are some important things to note for the safety of guests and the preservation of the home: - This house is 123 years old and has undergone many add-on throughout the years. This has resulted in a beautiful, interesting home, but also many high thresholds and steps. All guests staying in the home must agree to be aware while moving from room to room and supervise children to avoid trips or falls. A child safety gate is in the entryway closet to help create a safe place for children. - There are safety devices on all of the upstairs windows to avoid falls. Please ensure windows are locked and safety devices are engaged at all times so there is no risk of a fall. - The house is on a septic tank, so please don't flush anything but toilet paper. Additionally, avoid dumping grease, food, or chemicals in the sinks. Other things to note during your stay: Guests are welcome to use the firepit outside. If there is wood in the wood house feel free to use it, otherwise guests will need to provide their own firewood. The house is on well water. We do have a filtration system installed, but the water still tastes like minerals so you may choose to purchase bottled water. Well water is often impacted by environmental conditions. Southeast Tennessee has a lot of bugs! Being in the country expect to see lots of bees and butterflies, but also pests like boxelder bugs, stink bugs, lady bugs, spiders, and flies. We do regular pest control, but these bugs still make their way into the house. Feel free to use the vacuum to clean them up or relocate them back outside.
