Chic and luxurious Alpine Meadows cabin: gorgeous views, modern amenities, and unbeatable serenity. Eco-friendly updates and modernist architecture meet in this cabin perched over a creek. Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, this cabin is steps away from the best hiking trails and spectacular alpine lakes. Cutting-edge tech, 1960s-inspired furnishings, and excellent service combine for a seamless experience. Share the master suite with your special someone, or bring some friends for social ski. 🛋️ LIVING ROOM The airy living room is the cabin’s main gathering place, and you might say the soapstone woodstove is the heart of the home. Wraparound views and the sixteen-foot ceiling give the impression of a treehouse perched in an idyllic forested landscape, and phenomenal dimmable lighting and cutting-edge audio equipment make this the coolest treehouse you’ve ever seen. I’ve designed the space to be flexible and easy to love. The window seats overlook the creek and practically demand an afternoon nap during your stay, adrift on a sea of Mongolian lambswool. Flexible, easily-movable furnishings like velvet poufs, walnut end tables, and a tufted-leather ottoman let you dial the room in to your needs. Gather around the ottoman for a board game, read the morning news with a coffee in the window seat as you listen to the forest wake up, or swap massages laid out on a sheepskin in front of the fire. And while I’ve done my best to curate artwork from around the globe that inspire connection and creativity, I draw inspiration from the sun and the room itself, which combine to create a spectacular shifting light sculpture, unique to each day. 🍳 KITCHEN The dine-in-kitchen is bright, light, and packed with modern conveniences. Chefs will enjoy high-quality stainless cookware and sharp knives, a massive Boos butcher block on wheels, stainless induction stove and convection oven, quartz countertops and quartz farmhouse sink with a nearly-silent disposal, Miele dishwasher, and LG fridge and freezer, but that’s just the start. I love to cook and used to work as a pastry chef, so the kitchen goes way beyond the basics. You’ll find all kinds of helpful utensils and tools, like an oyster knife, microplane, baking pans, and cocktail shaker, and appliances including an automatic espresso machine, Belgian waffle maker, ice-maker, Ratio drip coffeemaker, and rice cooker. I keep the cabin stocked with excellent 100% California-grown extra virgin olive oil, all kinds of spices and pantry staples, and a rotating collection of condiments, vinegars, and more. 🛌 BEDROOMS The three bedrooms are named after regions of the forest: the canopy, the understory, and the forest floor. In each bedroom, you will find luxe bedding and linens, organic mattresses, clothing storage, nightstands, luggage racks, unique artwork, table fans, and bedside reading lamps, as well as fast USB-C charging and convenient 3-prong outlets right at each side of the beds. 🛌🌳 THE CANOPY The master suite, The Canopy, is just off the living room and has the same sixteen-foot ceiling and towering windows. You will enjoy the fabulously comfy queen bed, en suite bathroom, walk-in closet with a hotel safe, and a workspace with an incredible view of Juniper Mountain, a 27” 4K monitor, keyboard, mouse, and monochrome laser printer. 🛌🌱 THE UNDERSTORY Downstairs, The Understory looks out over Bear Creek and is outfitted with a king bed and an extra-long twin bunk bed. This sturdy hardwood bunk bed offers plenty of space for adults, and it’s low height and secure, smooth ladder will keep parents worry-free. This bedroom has the cabin’s only television, a 55” Samsung Frame with soundbar and subwoofer. Pop some popcorn, prop up the pillows, and snuggle up on the big bed with your special someone or family for a cozy movie night to remember. 🛌🍄 THE FOREST FLOOR The second downstairs bedroom, The Forest Floor, looks out onto the rolling hillside dotted with ferns, snowplants, and other tiny forest flora that leads down to the creek. Outfitted with a spindle-back hardwood queen bed, this room is the most private and deeply peaceful, making it perfect for couples. 🛁 BATHROOMS The master suite’s bath is a green dream, with a marble stall shower and slate floor and wainscoting. The downstairs bedrooms share the expansive blue bathroom with its gorgeous glazed brick tiling and wide marble vanity. Both bathrooms have modern Toto toilets with heated bidet seats that guests repeatedly mention in 5-star reviews, bright eco-friendly dimmable lighting, crystal-clear mirrors, marble-topped floating vanities, makeup towels, a hairdryer with a diffuser, and plenty of hooks, towel racks, and other storage options to keep things organized and tidy. Step into a spa-like experience with plenty of 100% cotton Brooklinen towels that are thick and oh-so-soft, and luxe sustainable toiletries from Public Goods: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and lotion. 🚗 GARAGE & GLASS BRIDGE The angular, high-ceilinged garage is connected to the cabin with a covered, ventilated, glass-walled bridge that offers stunning year-round views as you walk to the slate mudroom. The one-car garage features convenient storage for dirty outdoor gear including skis and snowboards, bikes, golf bags, and watersports equipment like a stand-up paddle board or kayak. You’ll also find a Weber propane grill, jumper cables, windshield scrapers and snow brushes, and a level 2 EV charger. Two or three cars can park in the driveway, and nearby overflow parking is also available. 🧺 LAUNDRY AREA I offer high-capacity LG washer and dryer, a pull-out drying rack, and dye-free, fragrance, free detergent suitable for sensitive skin. 🏞️ DECK AND CREEKSIDE LOUNGE The deck off the kitchen overlooks the creek and forest, and it’s round concrete-topped Saarinen tulip table and celadon chairs offer an ideal spot for enjoying a relaxing brunch or intimate dinner on a warm summer night. Just a few steps outside the back door, several wide and stable stairs lead to the creek and several inviting Adirondack chairs with side tables—the perfect spot to catch up over sunset cocktails. 🧘‍♂️ YOGA & MEDITATION I am a yoga teacher and Zen Buddhist lay-priest, and I’ve created several custom yoga sequences and guided meditations for my guests to enjoy. In the corner of the living room, you’ll find two buckwheat-filled meditation cushions, four extra-long, high quality yoga mats, cork blocks, a yoga blanket, and several yoga/pranayama bolsters. All sequences are suitable for all levels of experience: beginners will enjoy clear instructions and HD video as I move through each pose, and I offer lots of modifications to keep things interesting for folks with more experience. • Try the 45-min vinyasa sequence followed by one of my 15-min meditations for energizing your day, awakening the body, and focusing your heartmind. • Relax sore legs in the evening with the 20-min sports recovery sequence that is slower-paced and stays close to the ground to soothe your muscles, setting you up for a restful night of deep sleep and recovery. • Try the restorative sequence to give yourself the gift of an hour of deep rest, with the option to extend this sequence up to two hours. • New to yoga or meditation? I’ve got beginner sequences for both that are simple to follow and break down the basics to help you gain confidence and stay safe as you explore techniques and build your practice. 🛎️ Check-in is contactless, both for social distancing and for your privacy and comfort, but we can be at the property in person if your group would prefer it. For instance, if you would like to use our assistive devices or baby gear, we are happy to show you how they work on arrival. 🕓 Guests can let themselves in any time after 4 pm on their arrival date, and I offer complimentary luggage storage, as well as early check-in and late check-out for a small fee. 🔑 I use a modern smart lock with temporary codes for guests, and you will receive your code by email 24 hours before arrival. There is an electronic bear protection system around the chalet, and I’ll provide instructions for disarming the system when you arrive. ⚠️ The entire cabin is yours to enjoy, but please do not disturb any locked areas or cabinets. These are used for utilities, service items, tools, cleaning products, and personal items and should not be accessed by guests. 📖 WELCOME GUIDE I’ve written a smartphone-ready guide that is super comprehensive and modern, with video guides, tons of pictures and links, and easily-updated content. You’ll find clickable contact buttons, how-to guides for house features and instruction manuals for appliances, tips and troubleshooting for tech and any house quirks, and a ton of local recommendations: • grocery stores and farmers’ markets • restaurants and bars • outdoor gear provisioners, gear rentals, and equipment tuning and repair • the best hikes, charter cruises, beaches, weed dispensaries, urgent care, and more • all kinds of activity providers and guides, whether you’re looking for horseback riding or skiing, with choices suitable for all activity levels, from taking a gondola or tram to the top of the mountain to safely scaling the walls of the Olympic valley clipped into a climbing harness. 💬📞📧 EASY TO REACH I am available by text, phone, Airbnb message, or email, and I can easily be on-site if requested. ‼️ 24/7 HOTLINE If it's urgent, a text or call will be the fastest way to reach us. Julia, the cabin concierge, and I have a call schedule to staff our guest hotline around the clock. ⛵️🛒🍻 RECOMMENDATIONS AND LOCAL FAVORITES And if it's not urgent, I’m still here for it! I love helping guests get to know Tahoe, and I can help you plan activities, reserve equipment, or book cruises. I know the area well and love providing recommendations for what to do and where to eat and drink, so please ask if you’re interested! ☮️ CONTACT-FREE STAYS I prefer to be available and invisible—easy to reach while staying out of sight. I’ve been staying at Airbnbs as a guest long before I became a host, and I never want to bug, nag, or micromanage my guests. I prefer to be direct, so rest assured that if I have a question or concern, I’ll send a text or a message—you aren't going to find me snooping or lurking around. Also, I only check the security cameras at the doors when something goes wrong, not when I’m bored or anxious. (I think checking in on folks through the cameras is super creepy! 🙈) 🐻 BEAR CREEK ASSOCIATION Our neighborhood is the oldest community in the valley, located just below the ski resort. It is a private community of with one-lane privately-maintained roads where drivers go slowly (under 15 mph) and pedestrians feel safe walking on the roads with children or dogs. The roads and driveways are plowed impeccably all winter, and the grounds are beautifully kept with well-maintained trails, bridges, and subtle natural landscaping. 🏝️ SWIMMING POND The community has a stream-fed swimming pond that is a three-minute walk from the house. It has a grassy area for sunbathing or picnicking, several floating docks and rock islands, and a gently-sloping beach. No lifeguard is on duty, and guests are asked to be attentive to children and respectful of others enjoying this shared resource. 🦌 FORESTED SETTING The cabin is located across the creek from the main road in the valley, down a one-lane, paved private road that ends just past our cabin. Across the street is land managed by the forest service, and the lot next door has been left as green space. The location is extremely private, and the cabin feels quite secluded. You will not find a gem like this in Tahoe: ski-in-ski-out and remarkably private. 🚌 BUSES AND AIRPORT/TRAIN SHUTTLES While a car makes your stay much more enjoyable year-round, Tahoe’s bus system has a large network, and we recommend serval shuttle services and private drivers for interested guests. 🚐 FREE SKI SHUTTLE Winter guests can enjoy the Mountaineer shuttle. This free shuttle service picks up skiers and brings them and their gear to the mountain's base. The Mountaineer has an app that skiers and riders use to summon a van, and the experience is quite similar to other ride-shares. ❄️🔥🔌🛜 WINTER STORMS & WILDFIRES The cabin is in a mountain valley renowned for its snowfall, and wildfires are increasingly common in the Sierras in the summer and fall. Certain services may be unavailable for reasons beyond my control. For example, the cabin loses power and internet a few times a year; sometimes, it can be days before these services are restored. In 2021, winter storms led to Caltrans closing the interstate for almost a week around Christmas. ⚠️ CANCELATIONS & TRIP INSURANCE Please keep in mind that I will do all that I can to help, but these situations are beyond my control and are an inherent risk associated with mountain life. I recommend that you obtain trip insurance if you are concerned about potential losses. As a small business, unfortunately, I can’t offer refunds for outages, closures, or other consequences of the natural setting. I hope you understand and I’m happy to talk with you about insurance coverage and other options to help everyone enjoy their time in Tahoe.
