The space Nestled in the 500-year-old historic city of Old San Juan, the elegance and eclectic nature of Villa Solana is the ideal base camp to explore Old San Juan's history, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. Villa Solana conserves the structure of traditional Spanish architecture, with soaring ceilings, wooden windows, and welcoming ornate doors. Villa Solana’s interior has been recently renovated to preserve its history while elevating comfort and coziness. As you enter, you’ll be greeted by traditional marbled white and black checkered floors, mix with eclectic and modern decor. Fine art will charm your way throughout the whole apartment. And by just opening the doors to the balconies you’ll embrace natural light, the beautiful sight of cobblestone street Calle del Sol, and the warmth of Puerto Rican people. The apartment has air conditioning throughout and ceiling fans in the bedrooms, so you can beat the heat during the day and enjoy a relaxing sleep at night. Just a few steps away from Plaza de Armas, the apartment is right by easy shopping, convenience stores, and restaurants. Although laying in a calmer residential street, Villa Solana is a short walk from the nightlife and restaurants of Calle San Sebastian and El Morro Spanish fort. We hope you enjoy your stay and love Villa Solana as much as we do! LIVING AREAS Enter the apartment and you will be greeted by Villa Solana’s iconic green turf with wooden mirrors in the entry hallway which leads to an open layout living and dining area. There is a 6-person dining room and a living room to host and entertain with a flat-screen TV, and two double doors balconies that you can completely open to the street or leave closed with windows to let sunlight in. Beside the dining room, the renovated kitchen has everything you would need for an extended stay. Villa Solana has beautiful high cathedral ceilings that make the quaint 1,164 sq. ft apartment feel very spacious. There is a full bathroom that has access through the living area. The apartment has wifi, air conditioning throughout, and ceiling fans in the bedrooms. The unit includes a 2-In-1 washer and dryer combination in case you need to do some laundry while in San Juan. SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS There are two bedrooms in Villa Solana – one master bedroom and one guest room – that comfortably sleep 4 adults, with one queen bed, air conditioning, a closet with hangers and a smart TV with video streaming applications such as Netflix & Hulu in each room. The apartment has 2 recently renovated bathrooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. The bathroom in bedroom #2 can also be accessed via the hallway. PACK AND PLAY (SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY): We can leave a complimentary Pack and Play at the property upon request. This should be requested upon booking or no later than 5 days before arrival. Pack and Plays are subject to availability. KITCHEN Villa Solana’s kitchen was just updated with new cabinets and marble countertops. In Puerto Rico, we say love enters your house right through the kitchen, so you and your group will surely spend time socializing and cooking in this beautiful space. There is a coffee maker, kettle, stovetop, toaster oven, microwave, and fridge. You’ll have enough paper towels, trash bags, and dish soap to comfortably start your stay. GETTING AROUND This property does not include parking. If staying within the general San Juan/Metro area, we recommend moving around via Uber. If you decide to rent a car, there are various paid parking garages around Old San Juan - pricing varies as some charge by the hour and others have a flat rate. LOCATION Staying in Old San Juan is a truly unique experience filled with charm and character. From Villa Solana, you can comfortably walk anywhere within Old San Juan. The apartment is located on one of the quieter streets but still steps away from all the action. We recommend taking a cab or Uber from the airport and using Uber while you stay at Old San Juan. Renting a car is not necessary unless you are planning on road tripping. This is a truly walkable location with everything you need a short walk away. The apartment does not include parking. Nonetheless, there are convenient parking lots close to the apartment. There are many things to do in the surrounding areas, here are some of our favorites, all within walking distance: Explore the El Morro Fort. There are daily tours of the fort and the large green areas have spectacular ocean views. Take a tour, have a picnic, and fly a kite. This is a must-do. Explore the iconic Calle San Sebastian nightlife. There is a large assortment of bars on this strip which is a favorite among locals on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Breakfast at “La Mallorca”. This is a Puerto Rican landmark well known for its locally inspired breakfast and pastries. Savor Stuffed Avocado. Healthy and "trendy" spot where you can create your own avocado bowl. Take a stroll around “Paseo La Princesa”, a waterfront walkway which you can start off at El Morro and finish of the walk with a rum tasting at Princesa Gastrobar at the end of the trail. Other things to note STARTER AMENITIES At West Indies Vacation Rentals, we strive to provide top-notch amenities, ensuring our guests feel at home during their stay. All properties come with freshly laundered bed linens and towels. We provide 2 bath towels per guest and 1 beach towel per guest. We provide a set of disposable essentials to help you get your vacation started comfortably. These include: - 1 set of hotel-size soap and shampoo (per bathroom) - 3 garbage bags - 1 roll of paper towels - 2 rolls of toilet paper (per bathroom) - 1 dish soap - 1 dish sponge - A small amount of laundry detergent Please note that we do not provide unlimited disposable amenities. It is the guest’s responsibility to review what is included in the property and stock any additional items needed for the duration of the stay. Most properties also include at least 2 beach chairs and an ice cooler. You may reach out to us 5 days before arrival for confirmation. CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT TIMES Check-in begins at 4:00 PM, and since this is a self-check-in unit, you can arrive anytime after that. If you’d like to check in earlier, please contact us the day before your arrival, and we’ll confirm availability. When possible, early check-in typically starts around 11:00 AM. Please note that early check-in is subject to availability and depends on our cleaning schedule. If you need a guaranteed early check-in, you will need to book from the night prior to ensure the property is ready upon your arrival. Check-out time is at 11:00 AM. For late check-out requests, please reach out the day before your departure, and we’ll be happy to check availability for you. INSTANT & LAST-MINUTE BOOKING POLICY Instant Booking is available if reserved at least 2 days before check-in. For same-day or next-day reservations, availability depends on our cleaning schedule. You’re welcome to send a booking request, but please note that this does not guarantee the unit is booked—all requests must be reviewed and approved by our team. Requests sent late at night may not be reviewed until the following day, and same-day bookings are usually not accepted after 6:00 PM. We appreciate your understanding! HOUSE RULES NO SMOKING: Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property. A $500 smoking fee will be charged if this rule is violated. NO PETS: While we are pet lovers, pets are not permitted at the property at any time. A $300 fine will be charged if this rule is violated, and guests may be asked to leave the property. QUIET HOURS: Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Please be mindful of noise during these hours out of respect for nearby residents/neighbors. UTILITIES (WATER & ELECTRICITY): In the event of an interruption to water or electrical service, the host is not responsible for hotel, alternate lodging, or transportation expenses. If service is interrupted for more than 3 hours, guests may cancel the reservation and request a refund for unused nights only. Nights already used are non-refundable. MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY: The maximum occupancy is 4 adults/children at all times, including visitors. OCCUPANCY ENFORCEMENT: Occupancy limits are strictly enforced. Exceeding the maximum occupancy may result in immediate cancellation of the reservation or removal from the property without refund. TOWELS & LINENS: Towels and linens are provided for normal use only. Please do not use them for cleaning or allow them to be stained with food, grease, or other substances. Charges may apply for damaged or stained items. TOWEL HANGING: Please do not hang towels or any other items to dry in areas visible from outside the unit. A $100 community fine may apply if this rule is violated. SUBLETTING: Subletting or re-renting the property is not permitted. TRAVEL INSURANCE / HURRICANE SEASON We strongly recommend that all guests purchase travel insurance, not only during the peak months of Hurricane Season (July to October) but also throughout the year to cover unexpected events such as travel delays, pandemics, or other unforeseen issues. Travel insurance is inexpensive and can reimburse travelers for most expenses associated with canceling travel outside of the cancellation window; however, coverage will depend on the policy purchased.
