As stated in the description, our cottage is directly on the lake. As such, there are bugs outside and wildlife noises, and the lake is exactly that - a lake! It isn’t man-made or maintained (except that we do rake and maintain our beach area as best we can), and it has many turtles, fish and other wildlife who enjoy their lake habitats. There’s a small “wildlife island” just off the beach, so swimming is best enjoyed by floating out on a raft (or a paddle board) to where it gets deeper, or taking a boat to the deeper areas. The beach area is enjoyable by folks of all ages too, but keep in mind, it’s a lake! NOTE: We provide 5 life jackets for the canoe, flat bottom boat and kayaks; MI law requires one life jacket on board per person for the canoe, flat bottom boat and kayaks.
