Great Pond House The space Once the setting for the 1981 Henry Fonda classic, 'On Golden Pond', Great Pond now serves as the backdrop for your own vacation memories at this private waterfront retreat. Designed for family-friendly comfort and entertainment, this three-bedroom cabin takes full advantage of its incredible lakefront setting with highlights including a private dock and swim platform, a canoe, kayaks, and spacious yard furnished for outdoor living. Hear Loon calls from the two-tiered, flagstone patio complete with dining and lounge seating, a gas grill, hammock, and outdoor fireplace. The cozy living area welcomes indoor gatherings with comfortable seating, plus a piano and acoustic guitar for musical accompaniment. The updated kitchen comes fully equipped with all-new counters and full suite of stainless steel appliances for handling home cooking with ease. Additional home essentials include central heating, free WiFi, and a private washer/dryer. THINGS TO KNOW Guest access You'll enter via keypad on the front door. Enter your access code - a green light on the Schlage button will flash to confirm. If the light flashes red, the code may have been entered incorrectly; wait 5 seconds and try again. Once the code is accepted, rotate the deadbolt underneath the keypad away from the door frame to unlock, then open the door. To lock up when you leave, press the Schlage button, then rotate the deadbolt toward the door frame to engage it. The door does not lock automatically, so please lock it each time you depart. The back door locks by pulling up on the handle. If you have any trouble with the lock, a video guide is available in your confirmation email. Other things to note The home has a smart TV with Netflix available - you'll need to log in with your own account. There is no cable service. A dock is installed seasonally from May through mid-September for water access. Grills and fire pits are available seasonally (late spring through early fall). Before starting a fire, check Maine's wildfire danger report - do not burn if restrictions are in place or if there is any wind. Firewood is not provided, but you can find it at local roadside stands. Weather in coastal Maine can affect TV and cellular service - fog may cause interruptions, and high winds can cause outages across the area. Well water is safe to drink, though many guests prefer bottled water for taste - you may want to bring some.
