The nearest town of Marion is just a 20 minute drive away and has great restaurants, shops and bars. Southern Illinois University-Carbondale is approximately 30 minutes away. This lake house is located on Lakeshore Dr. South on the west side of Lake of Egypt. Located just off the main channel, this lake house features excellent, deep water with quick access to all things Lake of Egypt. Lake of Egypt is a stunning lake in the Little Egypt region of Illinois. It is located six miles south of Marion, Illinois and covers 2,300 acres with 90 miles of shoreline. The lake has an average depth of 18 feet with a maximum depth of 52 feet. If fishing is your passion, Lakeshore Cottage is the perfect spot for you with its own private dock for fishing the healthy populations of bass, bluegill and crappie. Lakeshore Cottage is only 15 minutes from the Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois, which is easily accessible from Midwest airports such as Lambert Field in St. Louis, Missouri, and Nashville International Airport in Nashville, Tennessee. The 45-mile-long Tunnel Hill bike trail was created from an abandoned train route that now takes you beside thick forest, through a dark railroad tunnel, and over towering train trestles. For those enjoying greater challenges, nearby Touch of Nature offers more than ten miles of mountain bike trails, for both beginners and veterans, and “pump trails” for true mountain bike enthusiasts.
