Other things to note This apartment is in a building in historical downtown. It is in a building with 2 other apartments. San Miguel was an important stop on the silver transportation route to Mexico City, as well as an important place of the fight forMexican independence. This building dates back to the 1600's as most everything in “historical centro". The exterior walls are about 18 inches thick as was needed for structural support. All the interiors have changed over the years but the exterior remains the same. At one time this was part of a large hacienda. There are strict architectural controls in historical downtown that disallow changes to the exteriors and EVEN requires exterior paint colors to be like the original colors. Historical Centro is the best place to stay as it was and is the heartbeat of the city
