Wild Oyster Lodge on Hood Canal: Breathtaking Water Views, Beach, & Hot tub
Escape in style to the incredible natural beauty and tranquility of the Olympic Peninsula at the Wild Oyster Lodge. This expansive log home, set on high-bank water-front and surrounded by towering pines, provides sweeping views of Hood Canal from its large deck and enormous chef's kitchen. Get out to explore the Olympic Peninsula or spend your days collecting oysters on the beach, kayaking and relaxing in the hot tub or in front of a cozy fire. Redefine your idea of a cabin in the woods. The space Wild Oyster Lodge sits on Dabob Bay, a secluded bay on the north Hood Canal, surrounded by protected wilderness and a quarter-mile down the beach from the Taylor Shellfish oyster hatchery. Eagles and seals are your neighbors and the rocky private beach (accessible by a long set of stairs, which is quite steep) abounds with fresh oysters. The home has two large bedrooms, a sleeping loft (twins/king), and bonus room with twin daybed (+trundle) to provide a comfortable stay for two families or a group of friends. The large sunroom and living room provide plenty of space to relax, play games or cozy up near the gas fireplace. One of the highlights of this getaway is the extra large professional kitchen, with a stunning live-edge dining table (seating for 8), and a large granite island for breakfast, oysters or wine tasting. Everyone ends up in the kitchen anyway - so it might as well be the biggest room in the house! There is a large deck overlooking the water, it's the perfect place to enjoy coffee or a glass of wine and take in the natural tranquility of your private piece of the Olympic Peninsula. The large hot tub is also a very special place to relax after a local hike or excursion, while you take in views of the water to gaze up at the tower trees that surround the property. It's a tranquil magical place and we are excited to share it with you. The home is located 15 minutes from Olympic National Park (with Mt. Walker and Canyon Falls trailheads nearby), and the quaint town of Quilcene 10 minutes away. Get out on the pristine waters of Dabob Bay with a pair of kayaks (available May - September), explore the coastline or make the round trip hike down the beach to nearby Dabob Broad Spit Park, a boat-access only park nearby with a 3-story driftwood fort (you need to see it to believe it!). Guest access You will have the full home + hot tub to yourselves, as well as access to a private rocky beach that abounds with wild oysters. Other things to note A few unique details to note about the Wild Oyster: Stairs to the beach are steep and long (101 steps). Children under 15 should be accompanied by an adult on the stairs. The home is intentionally TV- less and the wifi provided by satellite so it is not as fast as broadband. Internet speed is good enough for email, but not great for zoom calls or streaming video. The nearby town of Quilcene offers a few spots to eat and a small but well-supplied market, so it's recommended to pack groceries before you arrive. Nearest large supermarket (QFC) is 25 minutes away in Port Hadlock.
