Here are the highlights: Length: The trail spans 28 miles along the Colorado River, from Loma to Grand Junction and beyond to Palisade. This 8-mile stretch also provides access to the Walter Walker State Wildlife Area. Blue Heron Section: Follow the northern fork, named after Blue Heron Lake, a 5.6-mile route from Junior Service League Park to Riverside Park. Keep an eye out for bald eagles!
