SOBO Beach Bar can be found just down the Zig-Zag path and there are shops, cafes and restaurants less than ½ mile away at Southbourne Crossroads. These include the well-known restaurant Roots, Ricky’s Takeaway (Fish, Chips and Street Food), Cork and Lobster and the Co-Op. Southbourne high street is about a mile away where there a variety of independent shops, restaurants and cafes. M&S Food and Waitrose can be found in local Christchurch. Mudeford Harbour and beach is a 3 mile walk along the beach - turn left at the bottom of the Zig-Zag and keep going round the headland till you reach the sandspit and the iconic beach huts. Alternatively walk over the headland for a slightly quicker and easier route or take a short drive, or cycle, to the Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre and take the land train. A long, but pleasant, walk along the beach path leads you to Boscombe or Bournemouth piers for all amenities and a variety of family entertainment and tourist attractions. Walking on past Bournemouth will take you to Sandbanks. Cyclists are also permitted on the beach path. A short car drive offers the historic town of Christchurch or the vast New Forest. Alternatively a short drive will take you to Bournemouth town centre for more of the hustle and bustle this tourist town has to offer.
