Making Waves-Scenic Getaway- Heated Pool & Hot Tub
Add some peace and tranquility to your trip...beautifully furnished on the inside, fully stocked house, with an oasis of a backyard - this is a home you'll want to visit again and again. With your own HEATED saltwater pool & hot tub, in a private backyard paradise...you may not ever want to leave the property. Minutes away from the beach, steps away from the Intracoastal Waterway, and one street over from the scenic beach walkway, this house will not disappoint. The space A well thought out and inviting home awaits you. The open floor plan makes the most of the space, and the vaulted ceilings let in an enormous amount of natural light. There are rocking chairs on the front porch, and seating out in the screened in back deck...the perfect spot to sip your morning brew, listening to the waterfall splash into the pool. Both doors to the house have screens to let in the salty breeze in mild weather, and there is a gas fireplace to snuggle up to in the colder months. The living room has two sofas and two chairs, along with a smallish library of coastal books for young and old. The Master Bedroom is very large and has ample storage, from dressers to a nice walk in closet. The bed is king sized and oh so comfortable. Attached, is a master bath with a tub/shower combo. On the other side of the living room is a hallway leading to the two other bedrooms. The guest room boasts a queen bed with another nice mattress, blackout shades, and plenty of storage. The third bedroom has been transformed in to a bunk house room, housing 5 twin beds (also very comfortable mattresses...an adult would love to sleeping on). In the bunk room, there are games and toys, as well as an xbox with a few games (perfect for rainy days). Between the two rooms are a linen closet where you can find the pool/beach towels and a full bath in the hallway. With the dining table and the bar, there is plenty of seating for everyone in the house. The kitchen is fully stocked. In every way it can be. In the cabinets, you'll find a waffle maker, instant pot, air fryer, good knives, panini press, crock pot, blender, food processor, cutting boards, sheet pans, stainless steel pots and pans, strainers...more than you could hope for. There is plenty of empty cabinets for your things as well. Between the fridge and the double oven is an ice maker (you can't have too much ice while vacationing at the beach). The sink has a view of the backyard and the pool. In the kitchen is the pantry, where there is more storage for you as well as the full sized washer and dryer. Outside on the back deck is the cargo lift connected to the screened porch. This is a game changer, and can take the daunting task of moving all your things upstairs and simplify it tremendously. (Note. The lift is for cargo only. Not a people elevator. I repeat, not a people elevator.) There is a full page in our welcome book explaining the ins and outs of how to use it. Walking out of the screened in porch, you'll find the open deck with outdoor dining covered by a pergola. Down the stairs, under the deck, is the hot tub. What a treat! The HEATED saltwater pool and waterfall absolutely make the backyard. The heated pool is one of our newest additions, and we are so pleased with it so far. For our winter guests, it is important to note that the pool heater won't get our pool up to the hot tub temperatures. It typically stays about 10 degrees above the outdoor temperature and is not heated Dec-Feb. So it is perfect for the more mild winter days that the North Carolina coast is known for, as well as extending the season for our spring and fall guests. Don't forget, we have our hot tub for the more chilly days. Regardless of the weather, we've got you covered. Pictures simply don't do it justice. Peaceful and breath-taking. There have been trips that we don't even make it to the beach because we don't want to leave. In the far corner is a shed that we are transforming into a pool house. Inside, you'll find pool toys and lots of things to use at the beach: umbrellas, beach tents, floats, beach chairs, and extra coolers. There is also another full fridge in there...perfect for storing beverages and snacks you'll want by the pool. The oversized propane grill is right outside the pool house. Close to the gate, near the house is the extra large outdoor shower. This thing is massive. Inside the shower is a storage bench that has shovels, sand toys, boogie boards, and a skim board for the beach. Going out of the fenced in backyard, and under the house is where the last bathroom is. (The key to this is on the house key ring hanging up inside near the front door.) This half bath is really nice to have so close to the pool. Around the corner from the bathroom there are kid and adult kayaks stored under the stairs. This house has been such a joy to our family, and we are thrilled to share this sweet space with you. Guest access The house rests on stilts, which gives ample parking underneath, as well as additional parking in the driveway. Conveniently located in the middle of the island, our house is a quick drive to grocery stores, parks, restaurants, and most anything else you may need. We are one street over from the Scenic Beach Walkway and Kayak Launch. This is something that you cannot miss. Wooden bridges that stretch over the canals, connected by a well trodden trail through an island...taking you to 3rd row houses from the beach. The views are fantastic. Clocking in at a 10-15 minute walk, it's such a sweet way to meander to the beach. Now, if you're planning a day at the shore and need to bring all the things, the house is a 5 minute golf cart ride or a 2 minute car ride to the beach. Speaking of the kayak launch, under the stairs are 2 adult kayaks, and 2 kid kayaks for you to use if you'd like. If you need more kayaks, they are available to rent at the Rec. Center on 31st. The Intracoastal Waterway is also a few houses away in the other direction, and the public boat launch is a quick drive away. There is a 6 passenger golf cart available to rent for an additional fee, if interested. This is really fun way to explore the island and all it has to offer. It's our family's preferred mode of transportation while on the island. Other things to note Our family has fallen head over heels for Oak Island, and are excited to share it with you. Regardless of the season, there's something to look forward to. From Farmers Markets to Public Concerts and festivals, ease yourself into small town rhythms that are life-giving. We recommend the town website to help navigate all that's available in the time you'll be there. On the island, you'll find multiple parks (one has a splash pad!), two piers, over 100 free public beach accesses, skate park, putt putt golf, an arcade, a lighthouse, darling restaurants, thrift shops, and a Nature Center, to name a few. Southport is a quick drive over the old bridge, and is full of shops, more restaurants, and great museums. It's a quaint little town whose beauty has been featured in many movies and shows. There is always something going on in this sweet little town. From Southport, you can also catch a ferry (so much fun!) over to either Bald Head Island or to Carolina Beach where you can go to Fort Fisher and the NC Aquarium. On the island or off...the possibilities for adventure are endless.
