Guest access We offer off street secured parking inside the gate for the property (for one car only, more cars may park outside the gate where there is extra parking for the house). Next to the parking is a yard and patio for your use, please note we do have dogs and they do not enter this area. While they are friendly, we do ask you to not interact with them without our presence. Guests will receive a code for the lock box which contains a key for entry Nearby are many local beaches: The calm reef type beach of Las Picuas, good for snorkeling and for Kite Surfing; The family friendly Balneario la Monserate (Luquillo Beach) with amenities and close to the Luquillo Kiosks; Surfing beach La Pared is a favorite and right in town; and Playa Azul is a sweet beach for hanging out and lovely walks. These beaches are all within 10 minutes drive. There are more beautiful beaches within 30 minute drive either direction. Also within 10 minutes is the El Yunque National Rain Forest with hiking trails, gorgeous sights, waterfalls and rivers you can swim in. Carabali Adventure park is only 5 minutes away with exciting ATV tours and Horseback riding. You can really boost your heart rate and see more views with El Yunque Ziplining. San Juan is only a 40 minute drive and worth a lovely day trip. Picuas 123 convenience store is just 1 km down the road. There are many nearby restaurants and places for some shopping. Other things to note We do live downstairs but we mostly keep to ourselves. We enjoy sharing a drink with our guests if our guests choose to join us. The road in front of our house is the only road to Wyndham/Rio Mar Resort, the neighborhood of Las Picuas and all the homes on the hill, so it can be busy. Fans and the AC and sound machines reduce the noise significantly if the road noise bothers you. The bedrooms are furthest from the road. We have two dogs of our own - Bucky (PR rescued dog-Lab Shepherd mix, 5 years), and our boy Gus (PR rescue Shar Pei/Boxer mix 8 years), he has PTSD. Please do not pet them through the fence as this overstimulates Gus, and he has a hard time regulating his emotions. There are different pets occasionally on the property as we are part of Paradise Rescue and Mary works as a dog trainer specializing in Behavior and rehabilitation with dogs who have been through Trauma. We are also always looking for flight angels to fly small dogs and puppies to their furever home destinations if this is of interest to you.
