Colorado Traction Law: From September through May thirty-first, the Colorado Traction Law is in effect for all drivers traveling on Interstate Seventy between Morrison and Dotsero, as well as United States Highway Two Hundred Eighty-Five to Breckenridge. This law mandates that vehicles must be equipped with either four-wheel or all-wheel drive and snow-rated or mud and snow tires. Alternatively, vehicles with two-wheel drive must have winter tires, chains, or other traction devices. Ensuring your vehicle is properly equipped is essential for safe winter driving in Colorado. If you are renting a vehicle, please confirm with your rental company that your vehicle meets these requirements. Important Winter Advisory: Please be aware that during the winter months, roads and driveways are likely to be covered with snow or ice, making four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive essential for safe travel.
