Welcome to The Tree House on Lake John. This cozy A-frame cabin with character is just a 60 min drive from Minneapolis but you’ll feel like you’re a world away. Surrounded by trees and a lake vista, this quiet oasis offers a getaway and recreation opportunities year-round. The space We bought this 1979 A-frame to give our kids an experience unique to Minnesota and it is our favorite place in the world. When we are not around, we want others to have that same experience. It has 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and comfortably sleeps 10 guests. Nicely shaded and sitting amongst the trees, you can enjoy views of the lake from the cozy living room, kitchen or deck. There’s ample seating on the deck for outdoor dining. Inside, there’s a breakfast bar located in the open and well-equipped kitchen. The sandy beach is accessible by stairs, is mostly shaded and is a great spot for lounging or making sandcastles. In addition, our property has a field for throwing the ball around, yard games, or other sports. You have access to a dock, and you may use the lift (no cover) for your own boat. Please let us know ahead of time if you need the lift. The place is perfect for year-round recreation. During the fall months enjoy the beautiful changing colors by kayaking on the lake, relaxing on the deck or hiking on the many hiking trails in the area. A bonfire on the beach is a must while here, staying warm and cozy during the fall crisp evenings. Winter months here will also not disappoint. The Tree House is of course warm and cozy inside but the adventures during the winter months outside are not to be missed. The Tree House cabin during the month of December is decked out for the season to be together with family and friends to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. The cabin offers its own ice-skating rink all lit up with lights. We have a variety of ice skates to offer. The cabin also comes with Ice fishing gear, including a 2 man flip over house, ice auger and poles. The cabin also has easy access to snowmobile trails for those that maybe need a spot to stay for a weekend filled with snowmobiling. If skiing is your thing, Powder Ridge ski and sledding hill is only a 15-minute drive away! The fun is endless during the long winter months. When Spring is in the air the anticipation of the thaw and thoughts of summer are on the horizon. Lake thaw and the abundance of nature comes home and it is like no other feeling when you are on the lake. It's the perfect time to come to stay and take in the feeling of joy which follows winter. The excitement of summer is coming to life! *Younger children should be supervised at all times on the deck and walking up and down the stairs to the beach. Getting to and from the beach requires climbing stairs. Guest access Check-in 4pm, check-out 11am. Guests will have access to a variety of fun things to do. In the warm months there is swimming, 4 kayaks (2 kids and 2 adults), swim mat, beautiful walks, a variety of floaties, paddleboat, kids’ toys (both inside and out), firepit and more. During cold months there is ice fishing, ice skating, bonfires, relaxing by the cozy fireplace or watch a movie or whatever (ROKU) has to offer. *The Tree House has Netflix available for guests but you’ll need to have your own account information for any other apps you might want to use. Other things to note Our prime (june 1-sept 1) season offers all water activities, use of the dock and all non-motorized water activities, including inflatables. In the winter months the outdoor toys and furniture are put away. In addition, the boatlift and dock are stored on the banks of the yard but you'll have access to the firepit and lake which offers bonfires, ice skating, ice fishing, and other winter sports. House Rules: 1. Be respectful of the neighborhood and neighbors. Keep loud music down, drive slowly as you come and go and treat the area as you would your own. 2. Be respectful of our home. We love it and hope you will make some great memories here! 3. No parties, events, or additional guests please (maximum 10). 4. Leave the house in similar condition as it was when you arrived.
