AtlanticWindow - Modern House, Stunning View
Description
Pico Island, and especially Santo Amaro, has always been the holiday’s spot of our family. Here we grew up, we saw ships being built, we learnt how to swim, to fish and to live around nature. The dream of having our own place here, where to revisit the past, to rest and to enjoy the local genuine environment, has come true years later. The houses, built in a modern style, but with both inside and outside local stone details, were designed to take full advantage of the outstanding location an The space The house, built originally as a family vacation home, on a stretch of land with a fantastic view over the Atlantic Ocean, Santo Amaro and Praínha, the Pico Mountain (the highest point of Portugal) and the neighbouring island of São Jorge, has happily hosted family and friends and is now ready to be shared by all those who enjoy Pico and nature. The building options focused on the interior comfort as well as on the opportunity of taking full advantage of the stunning view. Therefore, big French windows were designed with the aim of being a sort of “showcase” of the Atlantic and the Azores, of its environment and landscape. The guests can benefit from the large common space: living/dining room and kitchen. The fully- equipped kitchen has the particularity of allowing guests to cook facing the sea. The house has two bedrooms and one ensuite bedroom (all with built-in wardrobes, electric window shutters and sea view), two bathrooms, an entrance hall, a corridor and a utility room. There is free private parking in the property and an outdoor living area. Guests can take their meals on the wrap-around porch/terrace or relax on the outdoor chairs while enjoying the beautiful landscape. In the property, there is also a barbecue, several fruit trees and aromatic herbs at the disposal of guests. From here we can hear the sea, we can feel the nature… Guest access The house doesn’t have access ramps but the type of building allows the access to people with reduced mobility and, with some help, to people in wheel chair. The location allows an easy access to the sea and the possibility of practicing diving with professional personnel (contact local company) or trekking in the numerous hiking trails (one of them goes past the house). There are also nearby viewpoints (Terra Alta and Piedade) and access to other services. In the house, guests can also find a list of useful contacts and background information: Supermarkets - the villages of Praínha (5 km) and Piedade (approx. 15 km) have small supermarkets (with basics) and in São Roque (20 km) there are two supermarkets, one of them bigger and with local and imported products; Restaurants, the nearest of them in Praínha and Piedade; Whale watching companies; Walking trails and museums like, among others, the tiny handcrafts museum in Santo Amaro. On the island there is so much to discover, to visit, to try and to taste as for example climbing the mountain (with obligation to register and possibility of hiring a guide) which represents a goal and a unique experience in itself.
