We’re thrilled to have you stay with us at Old School Rocky Cape and hope your time here will be both relaxing and memorable. Our place is your home away from home, and we’re here to make sure you have a wonderful stay while you explore the North West of Tasmania and all it has to offer. You'll find a guidebook of the kitchen bench with helpful tips about the house and recommendations for local attractions, restaurants, and activities. If there’s anything you need or if any questions arise, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us, we’re happy to assist! Our place is located in the safe and quiet neighborhood of Rocky Cape. We are an excellent solution for a group or family wanting to stay together in a large spacious home with 3 bedrooms, eight beds, sleeping up to 10 guests. Stay one night or a week, in quality accommodation at affordable prices. Centrally located between Stanley and Wynyard. Just a short 10-minute drive to Boat Harbour Beach, 15 minutes to Wynyard and 20 minutes to Stanley. You won't be disappointed. Additional Helpful Information Stay 2 Nights or More: Guests staying for 2 or more nights will enjoy the following perks: • A complimentary bottle of quality Australian wine from our Wine Club. • Free use of the laundry facilities. Keys: When departing, please leave the key on the kitchen bench or return it to the key safe, ensuring the front door is closed. Kindly take extra care of the keys, as lost keys will incur a replacement fee of $10. Heating and Cooling: The thermostat is conveniently located in the kitchen next to the microwave for your comfort. All large beds are equipped with electric blankets, and a portable oil heater is available upon request. Animals: We welcome small, house-trained dogs for a fee of $20 per stay. As we have ducks, chickens, geese, and lambs on the property, pets must be kept on a leash when outdoors. Please note that we do not allow cats. In the unfortunate event that a pet harms any of our animals, a fee starting at $100 will apply. Fireplace: If you’d like to enjoy an open fire, we provide wood and fire starters for $10 per night. Please note that the fireplace is intended for ambiance and will not heat the guesthouse. For heating, the reverse cycle air conditioner is available. Bedrooms: • No eating or drinking is permitted in the bedrooms. • Complimentary earplugs are provided to ensure a peaceful night’s sleep. • Bed configurations include 1 single bunk bed, 1 queen bed with an en-suite, and 1 queen bed plus 2 single bunk beds. Additional fold-up single beds and a travel cot are available upon request at the time of booking. • Extra blankets and linens are stored in the walk-in wardrobe in the main bedroom and on shelving in the recliner room. Fresh towels and linens can be provided upon request. Television: Our entertainment system includes two remotes: the TV remote (to turn the TV on/off) and the Satellite remote (to change channels). While local television channels are unavailable, our Satellite service offers access to NT television. Entertainment: The lounge features a coffee table with drawers containing family board games for indoor enjoyment, as well as a variety of books for both adults and children. Reading lamps are provided in the bedrooms for a cozy reading experience. We also offer a large selection of DVDs free of charge - please speak to us for DVD details. Wi-Fi: Enjoy free ADSL wireless Wi-Fi during your stay. • Username: Activate8me-2E50DEC • Password: F694E52B Lounge: The lounge is furnished with two three-seater sofas, one of which folds out to a double sofa bed, and two single-seater lounge chairs. The second bedroom also includes two single recliners with lovely views of the deck and the National Park. Kitchen: Feel free to make use of the kitchen, including all cooking ware, utensils, and appliances. • The stove is gas-operated - press the knob, wait for it to click/light, then adjust the temperature. • Avoid placing hot pots or pans directly on the kitchen bench to prevent damage. If this occurs, a $100 resurfacing fee will apply. • If the gas cylinder for the stove runs out, please notify us immediately, and we’ll replace it. • Please wash all dishes and utensils before departure. A dishwasher is available for your convenience - place a dishwasher tablet at the bottom, close the door, and press start. All cleaning products are provided. • For hygiene reasons, we only supply salt and pepper grinders, as well as single-use tea, coffee, milk, and sugar for your first night. For longer stays, guests are requested to purchase additional supplies. Barbeque Area: Our outdoor entertainment deck features a four-burner barbeque with a gas cylinder and utensils, provided free of charge. However, if the gas cylinder is not turned off after use or the barbeque is not cleaned, a $50 re-gassing/cleaning fee will apply. Cleaning products are supplied. Laundry: While guest access to the washing machine is restricted, we’re happy to assist with laundry at $5 per load, including washing powder, stain remover, and fabric softener. An iron and ironing board are also available. Alternatively, a 24-hour laundromat with washers and dryers is located 5 km away at the Rocky Cape Tavern. Meals: • The Rocky Cape Roadhouse is open from 4 AM to 6:30 PM, offering excellent takeaway meals such as fish and chips, burgers, and salads. It’s located just 3 minutes away at the corner of Rocky Cape Road and the Bass Highway. • The Rocky Cape Tavern, a popular local venue, serves hearty Australian pub meals. It’s open from Wednesday to Sunday for lunch (12 PM–2 PM) and dinner (6 PM–8 PM) and often features live music on weekends. COVID-Safety: Both of your hosts are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and receive annual flu shots. We hope you enjoy your stay! Warm regards, Alex and Liam Guest access You have full sole access to the three-bedroom Guesthouse, the rear deck and entertaining BBQ area and fenced backyard. Plenty of parking space on site. If you have motorcycles, we have the option of garaging them in our 2-bay garage overnight. Just ask on arrival. As we the owner live on site, we have the use of the washing machine and clothesline but try to limit it when guests are staying. Our animal feed shed is also in the backyard, and at around 5pm each afternoon we have to feed our animals. Other things to note Dear Guests, Thank you for choosing to stay with us! To ensure a comfortable, respectful, and enjoyable environment for everyone, we kindly ask you to follow our house rules: • Pets: We welcome small, house-trained dogs for a fee of $20 per stay. This ensures a secure and respectful environment for everyone. • Parties & Events: Hosting parties or events is not allowed. • Illegal Activity: Engaging in illegal activities, including illegal downloads, is strictly forbidden on the property. • Guests: Only registered guests are permitted. • Shoes: Please remove muddy shoes before entering the house. • Food & Drink: Kindly refrain from eating or drinking in the bedrooms. • Furniture: Please do not rearrange the furniture. • Damages: Report any damages immediately. We kindly ask that you take care of the furnishings - any breakage or damage will be the guest’s responsibility to repair or replace. • Kitchen Care: Avoid placing hot items directly on the kitchen bench or tables, as they may cause burn stains. Cutting boards and heat mats are provided. Fees for resurfacing may apply. • Smoking & Vaping: Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the house. Additional cleaning fees may be charged to remove odors or stains. Smoking is allowed outdoors where ashtrays are provided. Please dispose of cigarette butts properly to avoid additional cleaning charges. • Cleaning: Please clean your dirty dishes before checking out to avoid additional cleaning fees. • Trash: Kindly take out your trash and place it in the garbage bins outside near the garage. • Appliances & Lights: Before leaving, ensure that all gas appliances, the oven, air conditioning, and lights are turned off. • Noise: To respect our neighbors, please keep noise to a minimum after 10 PM. For lighter meals and takeaways then, Rocky Cape Roadhouse is a very good option. I’ve heard nothing but good reports of not only the food but their service as well. You’ll find them on the corner of Rocky Cape Road and the Bass Highway. It is located 3 minutes down the highway. It is also our Post Office and Service Station selling both Diesel and Petrol. The most popular venue in the region – the Rocky Cape Tavern is an absolute cracker. There’s a good range of Aussie pub staples and no chance of leaving hungry! There’s also a bottle shop on site – perfect for keeping the eski well-stocked – and frequent live music on weekends. This tavern is a multifaceted gem, offering a range of services: • Bottle Shop: Stock up on your favorite beverages. • Sports Bar: Catch up on sports events while enjoying a drink. • Main Bar: A cozy spot to unwind with friends. • Restaurant: Savor delicious cuisine, including seafood, steaks, burgers, and pizzas.
