Upscale Athens Luxury Penthouse

Description

Ideal for leisure or business travelers, this luxuriously renovated 4-bedroom apartment in a Historic Bauhaus Building of the downtown, is close to all landmarks and attractions. Facilities include a private balcony with Athens views, a large living room, a modern kitchen, a dining area, 3 bathrooms and a Wc. It also comes with all modern comforts: Wifi, Smart TVs & A/Cs and much more. The space Perched on the 5th floor, this gorgeously renovated penthouse comes with sweeping city views and a weighty history. In the place of the elegant modernist building that it is located, there used to stand another - equally attractive – structure which was the work of Ernest Ziller: the fabled architect of the bourgeoisie who was the first to bring artificial ventilation and central heating to Greece, and who transformed 19th century Athens from a village into a European city, granting it the architectural identity and aesthetics that the capital of the new Greek state needed, while connecting it to its ancient past. Ziller’s building housed the residence of Charilaos Trikoupis, a leading political figure of the 19th century and one of the most important politicians of modern Greece. Trikoupis was prime minister seven times and associated his name with the effort to modernize the country. He dominated Greek politics for 19 years, from 1875 to 1894, serving as prime minister a total of seven times and ruling the country for nearly 10 of the 20 years in that period. It is perhaps no wonder that such a lofty character used to live in such a monumental house. In 1930 this was bought by Isaac Pialoglou, a wealthy Greek, who commissioned the famous architects Kassandras and Bonis – whose works include the emblematic Rex theatre - to build a new apartment building in its place. The graceful Bauhaus still adorns the center of the city, while, with its recent impeccable renovation, the penthouse apartment is now open to all aesthetes visiting Athens whether for business or pleasure – or a combination of both. Wake up from a great night’s sleep in mattresses and pillows with feathers softer than a baby duckling’s, make yourselves a coffee – there is an espresso and a filter coffee maker in the stunning kitchen – and take it outside in your private verandah. You can almost spot all landmarks and attractions which you’ll be visiting soon - both Syntagma square and the leafy hill of Lycabettus are less than a 15 minutes stroll away, for example. Being literally amid the beating heart of Athens also brings you close to local life. A swarm of all sorts of dining and drinking options are around - from quirky cafes to lively bars and top-tier restaurants – and if you’re interested in culture, several museums – including the Numismatic, with its exquisite garden café – are a short stroll away. And while venturing out to savor the city’s many delights is easy, you’ll be also tempted to stay in a lot. The emblematic penthouse has been refurbished with grace, style and a keen eye on detail, to perfectly complement the modern-day lifestyle. Original elements like the gorgeous parquet floors have been retained, but the apartment has been equipped with the latest creature comforts including a high-tech sound system in the dining room, as well as big smart TVs and A/Cs in all rooms. The bathrooms – 2 of them ensuite – have been tastefully refitted, and the fully equipped kitchen is not only a marvel to look at, but utterly practical too, which is essential in this case. With so much beautifully laid space – there is a bright and airy living room and a dining area with a table for 10 – you’ll be wanting to entertain a lot here, especially if you’re staying for longer. Should you choose to do so, you’ll find all the comforts of home in the apartment, including a laundry room with a washing and drying machine. That’s why this spectacular penthouse is also ideal for digital nomads and remote workers with a family. If you’re looking to make the most out of your stay in the vibrant Greek capital, make sure to book it, before it gets snapped by an other like-minded bon vivant.
