Description

Staying in the Green Room you will have access to the entire historic part of our home built in 1851. Enjoy the music room with a Steinway grand, the formal dining room with its own fridge, and the garden courtyard. Private parking is in front of the house and you'll have your own private entrance. The twin bed is extra long and super comfy! A shared bath with one other person has a deep ball and claw tub (no shower) and is just a few steps away. Ideal accommodation for the single traveler! The space Step back in time to a more elegant era when you stay in the Green Room. It is located in the beautiful Foreside Farmhouse at one of Falmouth's most exclusive addresses - the Foreside. What was once a saltwater farm built in 1851 is now our home. THERE IS NO KITCHEN, but you will have access to coffee/tea, a small fridge in the dining room If you won't have a car while you're here... No worries. Ubers abound AND we are right across the street from the bus stop which will whisk you into Portland in just a few minutes. We are a short (6 minute walk) from the wonderful Town Landing Market where some of the best baked goods in the area are delivered daily. Town Landing Market also has wonderful takeout, fresh fruits and vegetables in season, sandwiches, dinners and sundries... Our home is also next door to the Dockside Grill which makes a perfect dinner spot for the weary traveler who may not wish to hunt for a restaurant upon arrival. The room itself, has a comfortable armchair, a closet with a full length mirror and a small dresser. It his a sunny room with curtains. The shared bath with a nice deep ball and claw tub is shared with one other person (at most!) There is another powder room on the ground floor which you may use if the shared bathroom is in use. Enjoy the music room for sitting, working on your laptop (if you must!!) reading or listening to Sydney practice the piano. The courtyard garden is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a book or have your morning tea/coffee/espresso. Step back in time a bit and enjoy a calm respite from the busy world. Your ironed sheets are of the best quality. There may be fresh flowers on your dresser and there is always a good book or current magazine for your enjoyment in the music room. Again, although you won't have access to full kitchen, there is a small fridge in the dining room. If you'd like to heat something up, Sydney will gladly pop your crab cakes or chicken pie in the microwave or oven! The Green Room may not be for everyone, but if you like a slower pace with a good book, Chopin, and freshly ironed sheets... This may be just what you're looking for... Guest access You will be able to have access to the beautiful Music Room which is on the first floor. If you are a pianist, you may enjoy the Steinway B grand piano which is always in tune. In the music room there is a picture of my husband's grandfather, Peter Jay, who was ambassador to Argentina and who came from a long line of diplomats. You will also be able to use the formal dining room for take out. (The Town Landing Market has wonderful take out for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is only a few minutes away by foot.) You may also wish to bring 'take out' back from any of the areas world class restaurants... And then eat them in the elegant private dining area. There is a small fridge in the dining room. In good weather, you may want to sit/eat on the brick terrace in the garden in front of the house. On snowy nights, sit by the fire with a good book! During your stay Our guests often interact with each other but it is certainly very easy to keep to oneself while here. Because our home attracts a certain kind of visitor, you may very well find yourself having a glass of wine on the terrace with another guest. We have a maximum of only 4 guests at a time. Syd is available either in person or always by Airbnb text, to answer your questions about the house, but also about the environs. She will have suggestions about things to do, places to eat, outdoor markets and musical events. Please note that, although you will share a bathroom with another guest, you also may use the downstairs powder room which will afford you more privacy. Other things to note Must climb stairs - One flight of stairs (narrow, winding and steep) to access bedrooms. Not suitable for elderly. The Green Room shares a bath with the 'Rose Room' next door which is also for one person so you'll share the bathroom with only one other person, maximum. There is a wonderful old ball and claw tub which you can sink in up to your chin. There is no shower but a pitcher is provided for rinsing. There is also a powder room off the music room which you may use. While you won't have access to a full kitchen, there is a small fridge in the shared dining room. Syd will be happy heat something up in her microwave (or oven) for you. She serves coffee, tea or espresso in the morning (just give her a heads up the night before as to what time you'd like it. ) There is a small dog who lives on the property. She may not and cannot access the Airbnb bedrooms. She occasionally comes into the shared dining room to say good morning.
