Point Camp is a small 16x16 rustic camp located on Great Pond in Franklin. Beautiful views. Kayaking and canoeing and a swim float. Pond has excellent fishing. The camp has direct ATV access to the Downeast Sunrise Trail and is located near mile 7. There is no electricity, and limited running water, but there are propane lights, propane stove/oven for cooking & propane frig. Hand pump for pond water and a natural spring for drinking water is nearby. Outhouse/Porta-Potty for bathroom use. There is a hand pump for non potable water in kitchen. Limited Hot and Cold water for shower and vanity. Solar shower bags are also provided for use in shower stall. Vanity with sink has limited hot/cold water and working drain for washing up. Toilet is porta-potty located behind cabin that is serviced weekly. Excellent fishing for largemouth bass, pickerel, white perch, and black crappy. Quiet Pond with large inlet stream for kayaking or canoeing and swim float. ATV friendly private road leading to Downeast Sunrise Trail. Room in yard for tenting or a camper. This is an off grid cabin. Only 12 miles from Ellsworth and 30 miles from Bar Harbor, but still feels like the middle of nowhere. Gas grill on deck for cooking and outside fire pit with patio furniture and picnic table. NOTE: Limited hot/cold running water in shower room, NO indoor toilet, or electricity at this Cabin. We do not provide towels , shampoo and personal grooming items, or pillows/linens for the beds. There are mattress covers on the beds. This is an off grid experience. We include the use of a canoe and one kayak with paddles and lifevests supplied with the rental of the cabin. Use of the canoes/kayak is at the guests own risk, and instructions are posted on the refrigerator in the cabin. Keep in mind this is a remote cabin. There may be a mouse that sneaks in. There may be some insects (mosquitoes, black flies, ants etc.). It is not possible to be in the woods in a camp without the chance of encountering nature. If your looking for a motel room then you should book one because this is not it. We offer a special peaceful place that is thriving with nature and beauty. There is plenty of room in the yard for recreation and tenting. You have access to the whole peninnsula with large yard and lakefront as well as a swim float near the camp dock. We are available for questions and information via text or phone during your stay. We also live on the same road as the cabin. We enjoy meeting guests and sharing local information. This cabin is on a peninsula with water on 3 sides. There is a natural spring with hand pump about 300 yards on a path from the cabin with cold clear drinking water. Approximately 30 miles from Acadia National Park and 12 miles from Ellsworth. There are restaurants and stores that can be accessed by use of the Downeast Sunrise Trail (87 miles long) as well. Suitable for ATV's, bicycles, walking etc. Walking access to miles of old logging roads from the cabin. It is common to see deer, bear, moose, eagles, beavers, grouse, and other wildlife in this area. This is a great spot to use as a base for ATV/hiking/biking on the Downeast Sunrise Trail. We expect the premises to be left in the same condition it was when you arrive. 1-Trash to be left in closed barrel on deck. 2- Dishes, lots, utensils to be washed and put away. 3- Cabin floor to be broom swept. 4- Pet waste to be cleaned up outside and disposed of properly. 5- All waterfront items to be put back where they were found. 6- No smoking in the cabin.
