Description

This is a legacy listing for our beloved tiny home that was lost to the 2020 CZU wildfires in California. We are not accepting new bookings, only keeping the listing to share photos & memories of our beautiful home. As for the future? Find us @belafish, we'd love to hear from you! We've set up a new property in Asheville, NC while our previous co-hosts (@TheEyriesBoulderCreek) rebuild their mountain-top property. Thank you for your love & support -- it means the world to us! The space Welcome to The Escher Tiny House! The Escher was a remote two bed, one bath, tiny-house-on-wheels located just 10 mins from Big Basin State Park in Boulder Creek, CA. This home was thoughtfully designed down to the inch, all to elevate a new lifestyle opportunity. It’s a place to fuel inspiration and uncover new directions...or to simply take a break from the constant pull of our modern world. We hope you can find peace here. Relax in the heated cedar soak-tub, under a starry nights sky, and feel at home. Originally designed as our own mountain family home, we treasured it for years before beginning to share it with others. You’ll never find another home quite like this one — from the 25 acres of surrounding forest and hiking trails, the ten-minute proximity to the old-growth Redwoods of Big Basin State Park, or the west-facing deck with perfect sunsets each evening and a dreamy cedar soaking-tub. Every detail of the Escher house has been carefully curated. You’ll sleep on a Loom & Leaf mattress with bedding by Brooklinen, relax in a heated cedar soak-tub by Northern Lights, cook with hand-forged carbon-steel pans by Blanc Creatives, and fire up a ceramic grill by Primo Ceramics. At every turn, you’ll discover a different intentional touch to brighten your stay or turn you on to something new. There is a king-sized master bedroom with sliding shoji-paper doors for privacy, and a lofted twin bedroom styled as a children’s room, complete with books and music boxes. The lofted bed is three-wall partitioned, includes a gate for safety, and curtains for added privacy. The home is perfect for small families, couples, or solo retreats. We also have a canvas Belle tent with an outdoor mattress that could accommodate an additional guest on request. Only a 12 minute drive takes you into Boulder Creek, and there you’ll find an exceptional organic grocer (Wild Roots) and a couple of local restaurants. Nearby Felton offers another excellent restaurant and bar (The Cremer House), as well as hip boutique shops. For an easy day trip, Santa Cruz and Capitola beaches are only 45 minutes away. We hope you will love staying at our tiny home as much as we do! Guest access While you're staying here, the tiny home will be your private oasis. Feel free to access the nearby hiking trails that quickly lead all the way up to a gorgeous, panoramic peak. If you have the interest, be sure to make it up to the top of the ridge for sunrise. It’s unbeatable. There is a main home and another tiny home on separate parcels of the 25 acre property, but they are not at all intrusive to your stay. You will have total privacy, and we ask only that you respect the privacy of others by not approaching these homes. Other things to note To get to the tiny home, you'll be driving on steep mountain road for about 5 minutes, as well as a short gravel road. Four-wheel drive is definitely not required and while the road is quite narrow at times, consider that we brought a 33ft tiny home up this mountain! Also consider that we failed when we tried to bring a 40ft, tricked-out, old school-bus up to the top... The Escher tiny home is down a private driveway clearly marked with signs along the way. You will see the main house as you enter the property, and another tiny home on approach. The Escher is the final home on a secluded ridge. Please be respectful of the peaceful retreat any other guests may be enjoying. Because the space is directly in a vibrant ecosystem, we ask that you do not leave food out overnight or disturb the local wildlife. Many wonderful creatures range here, from bobcats and mountain lions to deer, newt, wild turkeys, and banana slugs. Please do whatever you can to preserve the natural balance. And again, please be extra careful and monitor all kids around the property, especially near the many steep edges and utility access points around the house. We have never had even the slightest issue, but this property is mountainous. You agree to use this space at your own risk. Finally, the house features an eco-friendly waterless toilet. The design is seamless, but sometimes it catches people by surprise.
