The space #2026-STR-0482 The space: Built in 1899 on Paradox Bay in Lake Placid, it was one of the early cottages erected in the era when Lake Placid was becoming a summer resort for wealthy families. The property’s original construction used Adirondack spruce and cedar, and for many decades it served as a private lakeside cottage. The home’s architectural style—hand‑hewn timbers, stone foundation and wrap‑around porches—reflects late‑Victorian Adirondack design. Beaver Chalet has been completely remodeled with modern appliances and amenities throughout. Yet keeping the Victorian-Adirondack charm, claw foot tubs remain in the upstairs suites in a split bath design. The first floor has a large open-plan living space with a well-equipped kitchen to easily entertain large groups. The dining table seats 14 in a spacious hardwood floor light filled dining room. Many wonderful memories have been made over home cooked meals Out back you will find a grassy yard, dock, kayaks, picnic tables, gas fired grill, and large fire pit for roasting marshmallows. Enjoy the summer evening star gazing over the Lake and Whiteface Mountain! The backyard has 2 fire pits and dining options – so you can choose close to the house or down lake-side based on your menu. This place is perfect for guests seeking a fantastic location. Home Truths: The home is on 2 levels with no internal lift, so you’ll need to be able to climb stairs to reach the bedroom suites on the second floor. At full occupancy, four guests will be sleeping on twin beds in one of the second-floor bedrooms. At full occupancy, there is enough seating at the dining table with additional capacity at the kitchen island with stools. During the summer months, the house is air-conditioned. Unfortunately, the lake front is not for swimming. There is a lovely public beach about 1 mile from the property on Mirror Lake, located adjacent to the start of the Lake Placid Ironman swim leg. Guest access When visiting Lake Placid, staying on Saranac Avenue is a great option. Beaver Chalet has free parking for 6 cars and is located very near Hannaford , Marshalls, Green Goddess health food market, and several other stores. Walkable to Stewart’s for an ice cream treat or head the other direction to enjoy downtown Lake Placid along Mirror Lake. The Saranac Avenue neighborhood and area of Lake Placid, has many residential homes, rentals, and local businesses. It's much easier to park around the Saranac Avenue area than it is in downtown Lake Placid and is great for families. Lake Placid Center for the Arts, restaurants, shops, churches and downtown main street Lake Placid, all of which are about a half mile away, and an easy 10-to-15-minute walk. Other things to note **As soon as the water temperature is warm enough for everyone to play in, we bring out the water toys for our guests to enjoy. Safety remains our top priority as the lake water is slow to warm up. Per state law, everyone must wear life jackets which are provided on site** We work hard and play hard so we need our rest. There are strict limits on noise levels between 9:00 PM and 7:00 AM. Ordinances will be enforced by any law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over the short-term rental property. A violation of this ordinance will result in termination of the contract. If traveling in the snow, we highly recommend having a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The road will be plowed as well as the driveway, but winters in the Adirondacks are beautiful but can sometimes be unpredictable! We will send you instructions: Check in time is - 4:00pm Check-out time is - 10:00am. All the beds have linens, blankets, comforters and towels in the bathrooms at the property for your use. The property is furnished with a start-up supply of paper and soap products. This includes paper towels, toilet paper, dishwashing soap, garbage bags.
