Experience the Mountain Magic of "glamping" On the edge of an open pasture looking down the Hickory Nut Gorge to Lake Lure! Stay in a restored vintage 1962 Yellowstone 13 ft. camper! Enjoy the comfort of the camper, with power and hot and cold water, heat and AC. And the adventure of doing your "private business" in a primitive privy a minutes walk up into the woods. The fire pit is set up for cooking, with a picnic table nearby. The pasture, dotted with trees is lovely any time of the season Please plan to arrive before nightfall! This is HIGHLY RECOMENDED FOR BOTH ME, your hostess, AND YOU, my guest!! Driving around winding gravel roads in the fog and in the dark is very stressful, as you search for your guest destination! You will have a 3 acre pasture dotted with dogwood trees and cradled on 3 sides by new forest and rhododendron. There is complete privacy right around the camper and a short walk up to the top of the pasture will give a lovely view of Bearwallow Mt. and the Hickory Nut Gorge The property is on the side of the mountain, looking down into the Hickory Nut Gorge towards Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. It is in the midst of some of the world's oldest mountains, with many hiking and biking trails nearby maintained by the Carolina Conservancy. There is a plethora of other activities, with is a 30 minute drive to the city of Asheville, with many outdoor venues for food, recreation, and the experience of myriad of local breweries! The smaller city of Hendersonville with it's lovely main street and cafes and antique stores is a 35 minute drive to the east. There are several hiking trails within 5 miles of Bearwallow Mountain, maintained by Carolina Conservation, with more miles of trails being added! At Chimney Rock State Park there is more hikes, waterfalls, and rock climbing. Plus kayaking is popular down the Rocky French Broad River as it plunges down into the gorge to Lake Lure, where paddle boarding and a lovely sandy public beach, where swimming and boating activities are available. For rock climbers, in Lake Lure there is opportunity for "bouldering" at Rumbling Bald Mountain Please plan to arrive before nightfall!
