Charming 2-Story 1800s Home in Venice Center
Description
Welcome to my grandfather's home — a 19th-century Venetian townhouse in Cannaregio, right on Strada Nova. You'll breathe the soul of real Venice surrounded by original terrazzo floors, antique wood furniture, and hand-blown Murano glass lights. Picture yourself unwinding in the living room at the end of the day, dropping a jazz vinyl on the vintage record player. The entire house is yours — three private floors with all modern comforts, for an authentic Venetian stay that truly feels like home. The space The house spans three floors and is entirely yours for the duration of your stay — no shared spaces, no neighbors to worry about: just you in a 19th-century Venetian townhouse. The Entrance From the wrought-iron gate on Strada Nova, a short shared external passageway leads to the main door — dark wood with a decorative iron grille and a brass handle, unmistakably Venetian. Ground Floor Step inside to a welcoming entrance hall lined with light wood paneling. You'll find a shoe rack, coat stand, and umbrella holder right away — handy on those rainy Venice days. From here, a beautiful marble staircase with ornate wrought-iron railings, a wooden handrail, and glass wall sconces leads you up through the house. First Floor This is where daily life happens: a bright living room with warm honey-toned wallpaper, glass pendant lights, a sofa, a dining table, and a well-stocked bookshelf. Glass wall sconces cast a soft, warm glow throughout the room. The living room opens onto Strada Nova through French-style balcony windows — the street is lively and bustling during the day and quiets down considerably in the evening. Air conditioning included. The kitchen area is fully equipped with an induction hob, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, and everything you need to cook just like at home. Also on this floor is the first bedroom, with two single iron-frame beds, original Venetian terrazzo floors, and a 19th-century working fireplace — a genuine piece of the house's history, used to heat the room before gas heating arrived. Open fires are not permitted in Venice's historic center today, but this fireplace speaks to the soul of this home better than any decoration could. Air conditioning included. Second Floor The master bedroom is, in my opinion, the most beautiful room in the house: a queen bed with a brass headboard, original 19th-century Venetian terrazzo floors, damask wallpaper, and air conditioning. The balcony windows look directly onto Strada Nova, with a glimpse of Campo Santi Apostoli and its church in the distance — a front-row view of authentic Venetian life, vibrant by day and peaceful by night. The room extends into a study area with an antique mirrored wardrobe, a dresser, and a writing desk. In the hallway you'll find the laundry area with a dryer. The floor has two bathrooms. The main bathroom, accessible from the hallway, features a bathtub with shower, a bidet, and a washing machine. The second, more compact bathroom is reached via a small internal wooden staircase and includes a shower, toilet, and bidet. Guest access The entire house is yours for the duration of your stay — all three floors, completely private. There are no shared spaces with the host or other guests. The only area that is off-limits is the attic, which houses the boiler and is used as a storage area. Check-in is always in person: I - or a trusted representative - will be there to welcome you, hand over the keys, and answer any questions you may have. The house is equipped with a smart lock: if you need to drop off your luggage before the official check-in time or in other exceptional circumstances, just get in touch in advance and we'll arrange it together. Other things to note We personally manage every aspect of this home — from guest welcome to cleaning, paperwork to troubleshooting. Having lived here for years, we know every corner of the space and can step in quickly whenever needed. This isn't an anonymous professional service: it's the care you put into looking after a family home. We're always available by message for any question, recommendation, or request — don't hesitate to reach out. Location & surroundings The house sits on Strada Nova, Cannaregio's main pedestrian artery and one of the most important routes through the historic center. Restaurants, bacari, supermarkets, pastry shops, and local stores are all within a short walk. The vaporetto stop, Santa Lucia train station, and Piazzale Roma bus terminal are all easily reachable on foot — convenient both on arrival and departure. The house overlooks Strada Nova, a busy street during the day. Foot traffic drops off significantly in the evening and at night. Accessibility The house is spread across multiple floors connected by staircases — it is not suitable for guests with significant mobility limitations. The second bathroom on the second floor is accessed via a small internal wooden staircase. Pets & smoking Smoking is not permitted inside the house. If you're planning to bring a pet, please get in touch before booking so we can discuss it together. Registration Details IT027042C2NNZM2MJI
