On a quiet, maintained, dirt road 40 minutes North of Gainesville, you'll find a comfortable suite to stay in, while you travel to great cave diving locations. Here you can enjoy the hospitality of a master craftsman, camp director, 2 adult kids & 2 lovable, big dogs. Everything you expect & more inside. Even more adventure awaits you outside on our 5 acres. Small pond, Knife throwing, Patio, Picnic area, Sacred space, Natural areas to explore, Diving light charging station. The space The property is an L shaped suite attached to our home. The bedroom is the short end of the L and the living space & kitchen the long side. A lit sidewalk & ramp bring you up the back side of the house to the private entrance on the patio. This is a very accessible property. There is one 4" step to get in the door. Other than that the inside is all one level. The bathroom door is 36" wide. The shower does require a step over the threshold and there is no bench or seat, although we have access to one if you notify us of your need. The property itself is rather uneven ground and sandy, but there are no major hills or steps. We have experience with special needs and can make many accommodations, if you have a need, just ask. On the back patio you'll find seating for 4-5, a sunshade, and a hose. Off the back patio is the laundry room door. The laundry room has a washer and dryer for your use as well as laundry soap and dryer sheets. A drying rack, ironing board, and iron are there for your use. The cushions for the outdoor furniture and the hammock are there for you as well. Along the sidewalk you'll see a covered, fenced area with a charging station for cave lights and tables to prep for your day. There is also a hose there if you need it. Beyond the fenced area, you'll find our garden, if there are vegetables or herbs ready for picking, we will let you know what you may harvest. Beyond the garden is our rabbitry and the pond shaded by bamboo and the muscadine grapes. Near the parking area, you'll find the picnic area where you can use the bbq grill (or you can wheel it up the ramp to the back patio). The hammock frame is also there waiting to help you relax and enjoy the view. Past the picnic area you'll find one of our sacred circles. If you wish to use the space respectfully, you may. There is a large fire pit and wood there available for your use. On the other side of the driveway, there's the knife throwing area. After signing the waiver, those 18+ are welcome to try their hand at knife throwing. Up the driveway you'll find our storage area and shop space (not for guest use) and our RV (the RV is a separate airbnb listing) followed by the soon to be completed archery range and wild spaces on the property. In late May and June, wild blackberries are ready for you to pick. In August, you may find wild muscadine grapes. And in September, you may find pawpaw fruits, if the gopher tortoise don't get them first. You're welcome to explore the wildlife areas. We did have horses at one time and some of the barbwire fencing is still in place, please keep your eyes on where you're going. Other things to note Things you might find interesting: Our power is partially provided by solar panels. We have a whole house back up generator, so we're never without power for more than a couple minutes. There is pest control service for the house itself (it's Florida). But no pesticides or chemicals are used on the grounds. The picnic area is periodically burned to control ticks. The poison ivy is removed by hand from high traffic areas on the property as best we can. We're on a well and septic. The water is treated and softened in the well house. And the well has been blessed. On nice nights you'll be able to listen to the frogs, cicadas, and owls while you watch the stars. One of the best parts about this property - No check-out to do list! SOMETIMES we have access to free tickets for UF games and free or reduced price tickets for the Hippodrome plays. Just ask. If you're interested we have concierge offerings for additional items to make your stay more pleasant. These are optional services for additional fees, such as fresh flowers, decorating for special occasions, private in room dinner, etc. A link is available in the house manual. Outside you can play bocce ball, use the giant inflatable bowling set, throw knives, hang out in the hammock, or enjoy a nice fire under the stars. We have a pile of firewood (some logs and some deadfall) available for you. Please note that our property is listed as no smoking and no pets (other than our dogs and rabbits). We try to be as accommodating as possible. we treat our guests with the utmost respect. If you arrive with an unannounced, non-service animal, or plan to smoke on our property, per airbnb policy, you will be asked to leave without a refund. We regret having to make this policy, but we have been taken advantage of too many times. We respect our guests and expect respect in return. You may wonder why our cleaning rate is on the high side. The comfort of our guests is one of our highest priorities. We provide extra pillows, blankets, throws, towels, ample cookware, glasses, utensils, bowls, blenders, toaster oven, and Tupperware for our guests. Florida law requires ALL dishes and ALL linens guests have access to be cleaned between guests. This means we do a minimum of 5 loads of laundry and 3 loads of dishes between each guest. Every surface is wiped down. All furniture and items that cannot be washed are sprayed with lysol. We take the cleaning and maintenance of the space seriously. This thoroughness takes time, cleaning products, and attention to detail. We could charge you $30 like most listings in the area, but that would increase our nightly rate and reduce our ability to provide the quality of our listing. We care about our guests and it shows in our suite and reviews. We like to cook, so we want to do what we can to give you what you need to cook, if you choose.
