A charming self-contained cottage with the forest right on your doorstep, making it a popular choice for walkers, bird watchers, cyclists and those wishing to escape everyday life. A lot of original character features have been retained, including an interesting glass floor showcasing an illuminated section of the Victorian heating system, which once heated the palm houses and pineapple pits in the kitchen garden of the original build. The space The property features two bedrooms and a shower room on the first floor and a large kitchen with a cosy living room on the ground floor. The kitchen is well equipped with all the luxuries you would expect in accommodation of this standard, ie washing machine, dishwasher, double oven, fridge/freezer, microwave etc. It has high quality furnishings, underfloor heating, fast wifi and smart TV. Located within a beautiful shared walled garden set in over 1.5 acres and brimming with wildlife. The garden has well stocked borders, a stunning pavilion with seating, bbq and fire pit, which is shared with other guests. On site there is a Shepherds Baa cafe which is open every day from 9 to 4pm. There are lakes, rivers and endless walks right on your doorstep. Guest access Mundford village is only one mile away and is easily walkable. Within the village there is a pub, butchers, convenience store & post office, fish & chip shop and farm shop cafe. Each individual property offers a magic place to stay whatever the time of the year. Perfectly located for exploring Suffolk and Norfolk and with wonderful woodland and forests on your doorstep offering peace and serenity, it won't take you long to fall in love with the place. As you drive down the quiet road into the forest, and past the famous Arboretum with over 200 tree species, you will get a real feel for how special this location really is. Located within a beautiful walled garden, and with each property converted to the highest of standards, we know you'll want to return here again and again at any time of the year. From your doorstep you can enjoy beautiful woodland walks and trails with an abundance of bird and wildlife. Nearby there are excellent cycling trails and on site can treat yourself to a coffee and cake at the Shepherds Baa cafe. Thetford Forest is also close by and offers a range of activities to enjoy as well as playing host to a number of musical events during the summer months. Brandon train station is 4 miles away and has good links to the cities of Norwich and Cambridge. Bury St Edmunds 22 miles; Norwich 37 miles. Thetford Forest is Britain's largest lowland pine forest with nature reserve and the Peddlars Way National Trail. Families, walkers and cyclists will enjoy High Lodge Forest Centre with its excellent trails for all abilities and Squirrel Maze for the children. The nearby town of Thetford is a large ancient Norfolk market town bordering Suffolk, with an interesting historical past, easily discovered by following the town’s many varied trails and museums. Other things to note Please be aware that we have a strict no pet policy at this property. Mobile phone signal isn’t great, you will get signal around the grounds but sometimes it can be patchy. It is best to enable wifi calling as the wifi is good. We are in the forest away from public transport so you are advised to have a car in order to make the most of your stay. There is a military training area close by so occasionally you will hear aircraft and training exercises in the distance. We politely request that you drive in and out of the drive at walking pace as we have two dogs and, although they are not often roaming free around the parking area, it is possible.
