All on one level with no internal steps, it’s particularly well suited to couples, solo travellers, and families with a baby or toddler — a place to settle in easily and feel at home from the moment you arrive. Inside, the Roundhouse living area is open plan and thoughtfully laid out. There’s plenty of room to relax whether you’re here for a quiet break, a work trip, or time exploring North Devon. The kitchen is well equipped for everyday meals with fridge/freezer, microwave and electric cooker. The solid beech breakfast bar works just as well as a dining space as it does for laying out your maps and leaflets to plan the day ahead. The living space is somewhere to properly relax — with an electric log-effect fire and Smart TV for quiet, cosy evenings in. The bedroom has a king-size bed with a hotel quality pocket sprung mattress to ensure a great night’s sleep. There’s ample space for a travel cot (which you can borrow from us for free), making the Roundhouse a popular choice for a first family holiday, a first birthday celebration, or a gentle break with a baby in tow. The shower room has a newly installed shower with rain showerhead. The cottage has a washer/dryer (with no additional charges) for your private use, making travelling with little ones or longer stays that much easier. Guests also enjoy access to the wider site. You’re welcome to use the games room with table tennis, table football and toys for younger children. The sandpit is usually a hit with little ones and feel free to borrow buckets and spades when you hit the coast (no need to take up valuable packing space in the car). You can also spend time in the gardens taking a stroll or borrowing one of our BBQs and enjoying some outside dining. There is also the opportunity to come and meet our friendly sheep, pigs, chickens and guinea pigs. For many guests, these simple farm moments become the highlight of the stay — unhurried, hands-on, and memorable. You can also enjoy our seasonal outdoor heated swimming pool (1st May to end of September), which is a real highlight for many visitors. Whether it’s an early morning swim or time in the water with a baby or toddler, it’s a great addition to your holiday and is often mentioned as a favourite part of the visit. Lower Hearson Farm is ideally placed for exploring North Devon. We’re around 20–40 minutes from many of the area’s best-loved attractions, including RHS Rosemoor, Arlington Court, Quince Honey Farm, The Big Sheep and The Milky Way — all popular with families and easy to fit into a relaxed day out. The coast is also close, with wide sandy beaches at Woolacombe, Saunton Sands, Westward Ho!, Croyde and Putsborough all within easy reach. If you’d prefer to head inland, Exmoor National Park is just a half-hour drive away, offering walking, wildlife and beautiful landscapes — a lovely contrast to beach days. The Roundhouse is dog friendly and we’re happy to welcome one well-behaved, house-trained dog. As we’re a working smallholding with livestock, dogs must be kept on a lead while outside on site and shouldn’t be left alone in the cottage. Heated outdoor swimming pool (seasonal): this is available for guests to use throughout May until the end of September. Games room: table-tennis, table-football and toys for younger children Gardens: all guests have shared access to the approximately 2 acres of gardens surrounding the cottages. There are picnic benches, garden chairs and BBQs available so guests can eat or relax around the site. Car parking: guests to the Roundhouse can park 1 car in our shared car parking area. Other things to note The swimming pool is open to guests throughout May to the end of September. Towels, bed linen, tea towels and a shower mat are provided (cot bedding is not provided). Use of the gardens, games room and swimming pool are all included in the price of the cottage rental. The parking space is suitable for cars, small vans and smaller transits. If you have a larger van/vehicle then please do contact us prior to booking so we can discuss the parking with you as we may be able to offer an alternative parking space.
