Description
Relax in a quiet, curated, pet-friendly art exhibit. Live with paintings & sculptures that are for sale. This garden apartment is tucked into a hillside above a creek, along the Jewel Vinsota Sculpture Trail. Your host/gallery curators live upstairs. The “Artist’s Guesthouse” is next door. The private entrance is down a stone-stepped path. Perfect for 2 w/ the queen bed but room for 3 w/ the living room futon. Fully equipped kitchen. Private charcoal grill and fire pit next to the creek. The space The Creekside Retreat is the latest creation of artist David Gibney and the fulfillment of his dream for the ground floor of his home, The Jewel Vinsota. He has designed and milled rich mahogany trim, installed ambient lighting, and incorporated art into all aspects of the space. Do you want to be in the woods but hate things like extreme temperatures, insects, and uncomfortable furniture? This is the perfect compromise. A wall of glass in the living room connects you with the trees and streams outside. Sit inside on a comfy chair and watch the fireflies at night or snow falling in the winter. Floor-to-ceiling drapes provide privacy if you need it. You will feel secluded but are only a few minutes from grocery, hardware, and liquor stores and other amenities. In addition to our permanent collection of art displayed in the space, our art gallery features paintings and sculptures that will change on a regular basis. These items will be for sale with 100% of the cost going directly to the artist. COOKING: The apartment-sized stove and fridge are great for simple meals for three but you probably shouldn't plan to cook your Thanksgiving turkey and fixin's here. We provide dishes, cooking pans, bakeware, and utensils. There's always tea and coffee (nothing fancy), and a coffee grinder if you travel with fancy coffee. We try to keep cooking basics (oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, a few seasonings). SLEEPING: The bedroom has a queen-sized bed. The sofa folds down into a futon suitable for 1 adult or two small people. A twin-sized air mattress is also available. There is a dresser, closet area with hangers, and desk for private workspace. BATHING: There is a bathroom with toilet, sink, and shower. ENTERTAINMENT: We provide a BlueTooth speaker for music and a record player and small assortment of records. There's no tv but we have a projector that connects easily to a computer. If you're tech-savvy you may be able to connect your phone with a USB-C or lightning plug adapter. We also offer a few art supplies, games, and puzzles. PETS: All pets are welcome. We supply dog-bowls, and poop bags. If your pets have furniture privilages, please use the blankets and sheets we provide to contain their fur and protect our furniture. NOTE!!! We have another guesthouse on property and they may have also have dogs. BE SAFE: Keep your dog on leash to prevent unwanted interactions. Guest access You have sole access to the entire space via a private entrance. Your grill and fire pit are adjacent to the trail leading to the Jewel Vinsota Sculpture Trail so you may see your hosts or other guests passing by. We hope you use the house and grounds as creative inspiration. Books, basic art supplies and several instruments are all available to you. If you're interested in expanding your creativity through lessons in blacksmithing or assemblage art, let us know via chat and we'll coordinate. If you're looking for more practical skills, David and Sarah have decades of experience in historic preservation trades. You could learn how to preserve a wood window or repoint a stone wall. Other things to note Cell service is spotty at best, so turn on wifi calling when you arrive. All pets are welcome at both rentals. We supply dog-bowls, and poop bags. If your pets have furniture privilages, please use the blankets and sheets we provide to contain their fur and protect our furniture. NOTE!!! We have two short-term rentals on property and there may other dogs walking our trail. BE SAFE: Keep your dog on leash to prevent unwanted interactions with other dogs or with bears (!!). We have a trail camera set up outside the Creekside Retreat but it only captures movement along the trail and creek (which is how we know we've had bears in the area).
