You can see the mountain Dønnamannen from the balcony, this mountain is located on the island of Dønna, a short ferry ride from Sandnessjøen. In Leirfjord we have several marked hiking trails, such as Lihodet, Nordfjellet, Kløven and more. A day trip to Dønna and Herøy is recommended. You can take the ferry to Dønna and drive to Herøy to take the ferry back via Søvik ferry dock, or vice versa. In Herøy there is a unique flower shop called Etcetera-Botaniske utskeielser. There are also several restaurants such as Augustbrygga, Herøy Brygge or Tre Kalver on Dønna.
