This is my new favorite place! This lofted apartment takes a pretty manageable square footage and makes it feel huge. The upstairs bedroom is private, yet open, is a wonderful place to come home to after a night on the town, and has everything you need for short and long stays (including a huge closet and workspace). The downstairs is great for entertaining yourself, cooking, and relaxing. Simple bathroom, full kitchen, and a sectional sleeper couch. First, there is a wonderful king memory-foam mattress in your very own private loft! We love it. (Michelle gets credit for decorating.) Originally built in the late 1800's as the home of Phineas Adams with the hustle and bustle of horse-drawn buggies up and down the street, the building now has a new life as a small residential apartment building with seven units. We love the character of this historic building, but expect to find sticky doors, creaky floors, and lots of stairs! The apartment has modern electrical, and the fastest internet available in Manchester. A Rinnai propane heater is located in the living room and a window A/C unit is installed between June-September. The couch can be used as a sofa bed, but it isn't the most comfortable so I'd only rely on that for a few nights if needed. The bathroom has a small sink and shower stall with plenty of shelves for storage. Guests are welcome to use the seating area on the front porch. A washer and dryer are located in the basement, and available for your use anytime. You can pay using the Pay Range App, or with quarters. Just plan to bring your own, the change machine does not work. There are 3 short-term units in the building, and 4 long-term units. All units are smoke-free, but a few of the tenants smoke. Grills and other outdoor items belong to the tenants, and should not to be used by our guests. All check-in is handled via keypad entry. In this listing, you will have total privacy in your own apartment. I live down the street should you need anything, though! Located just steps from Elm Street, the apartment is a 5-10 minute walk from downtown bars and restaurants. A popular pizza shop is across the street, and a Rite Aid is just 1 block away. This is a good neighborhood, but it's not the prettiest. We're located in between the parking lot of a medical building, and a old apartment building. A women's home is located across the street. The ladies are often outside talking and smoking. We've never had any issues, but it's a busy downtown area not a quiet, residential neighborhood. A city bus stop is located on Elm Street, a 5-minute walk from the apartment. A Greyhound station downtown has limited service to Boston and New York. Local cabs, Uber and Lyft are available, but book ahead if you're planning to travel late night/early morning. Smoking or vaping of any kind is not allowed in any of the units, or within 10 feet of open doors or windows. $250 additional cleaning fee for all violations. A couple of the long-term apartments will be vacated at the beginning of May. You may hear some noise between 8am and 5pm as maintenance prepares the units for new tenants Each unit has one designated parking space alongside the building. Additional vehicles can be parked for free on the street in front of the house. Spaces may be hard to find, especially on nights and weekends. We love pets, just remember to clean up after them. Dogs must be on a leash in the common areas. Our insurance company does not allow dogs over 50 lbs. Bicycles may be chained to the porch behind the building. No other personal items may be left outside the apartment. Manchester hosts a number of festivals and road races throughout the summer & fall. The roads surrounding the apartment are often closed for these events, but you can exit/enter the parking area through the alleyway behind the house. Paving and utility work is planned for our street and the surrounding streets summer of 2023 & 2024. Expect road closures and delays.
