Description
Just 15 minutes from the heart of Mudgee, you will drive through the gate of our 100 acres and start to unwind. As you explore the olive grove and the vineyard, you will find beautiful spots to enjoy a picnic. A perfect base to explore the Mudgee region, then come back and sample the local produce you bought and take in the magnificent views from the veranda with a glass of our GG wines. If of interest, have a chat with the owners and learn about primary production as it happens here. The space Once you have passed the main gate, you take the 800m approach through our farmland to an escape that is perched on the side of a hill, offering calming views across olive trees, rain water dams and grazing sheep and cattle. One of the most frequent comments we receive from our guests is that the photos can't capture the view and most importantly the tranquility that embraces you once you have arrived. The large timber deck invites you take it all in, enjoying the morning sun with a cuppa or observe the change of light in the late afternoon with a glass of Mudgee Wine or Craft Beer and some fresh local produce. Once the night falls, you can stargaze with the Milky Way going straight over your head and in the cooler months light the firepit to roast some marshmallows or just sit around the campfire and tell some stories. Immerse yourself into farm life by helping or watching us feed the animals, visit them for a pet or have a little farm tour with us and learn about the growing and processing of grapes and olives. Prepare your meals on the BBQ or the fully equipped kitchen and enjoy them inside or at one of the two outdoor dining areas. We love to cook ourselves, so there is plenty and large enough kitchenware to cook up a storm. In winter, we light the indoor wood fireplace before you arrive and provide all the firewood you need. There is also a reverse cycle aircon to blow away the morning chill or to cool the house down nicely in summer. And once you're ready to put your heads to rest, you will find warmer or lighter doonas depending on the season for a good night's sleep as well as a choice of pillows with different firmness. On the logistical side of things, you have your private road to the cottage with parking for easy level access with your luggage via the main guest entrance. It will only take you 15 minutes into Mudgee if you want to dine out and for a small fee we have helped guests with shuttle service for long lunches or to catch a wine tour from the fringe of town. So, whether your are a family, a group of friends or a couple looking for a secluded getaway, you can make Hillside your home away from home and we look forward to hosting you! Guest access You have your own private road and gate to the house paddock, leading you straight to the entrance door and a spacious parking area. All rooms are located on a single floor and easy accessible with one small step at the main entrance door. We invite you to explore the olive grove and vineyard, either on your own on in combination with a guided tour during which we are happy to share insights on growing grapes and olives and on getting those delicious juices into bottles. If you are interested in our 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom option, please search for our alternative listings on AirBnB. Other things to note Our two dogs Leo and Hunter are very friendly and love to say hello and hang around to play. There are various other farm animals on the property, including a couple of donkeys, two cows, some goats, sheep, two cats and some chooks who provide us with beautiful fresh farm eggs. You can taste and purchase wines from our own vineyard and label as well as Olive Oils from our olive grove. Registration Details PID-STRA-37139
