Juniper Creek Cottage — on 10 acres with a creek!

Unplug and reconnect with what really matters at this unique and tranquil getaway. During your Juniper Creek Cottage stay, you will enjoy some of the original charm and details of the updated 1950s home, along with the beauty and excitement of nature just outside the doors. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the front porch while watching the horses play across the st. Follow the babble of the creek, just steps behind the house. Explore local trails at the nearby Blackwater Forrest State Park & more! The space This is a beautiful home built in 1950. The home sits on the front 1/3 of the 10 acres, with Juniper Creek running through the middle of the property. We have a nice privacy fence, with gated entrance, around the front three acres. Guests will have to manually open and close the gates to enter/ exit the property. We have worked to keep the home’s original charm, by exposing the stick built vaulted ceilings and heart pine floors, and refinishing the original claw foot tub. The ceilings are not enclosed (see photos). Many of the furnishings in the home are original to the time period in which the home was built. If you see something you like, it just might be for sale! Message the host to ask about pricing. Originally there was no central heat and air in the home so we have installed a mini split unit, which heats and cools the home. There are additional fans and heaters in each bedroom, if needed. The bedrooms tend to get warmer in the summer and colder in the winter. The kitchen boasts its original cabinets, with a new butcher block top. There is a vintage style small refrigerator, a full size stove/oven, microwave, drip coffee maker, and tea kettle. The bathroom boasts a beautifully restored claw foot tub. There is a shower nozzle that can be used in the tub as well. The intent of this property is to be a place to unplug and connect with one another and with nature. We now have high speed WiFi, via Starlink. There is a 40” smart TV available in the living room. Feel free to stream to your own devices using our high speed internet. The cell service is great. There are books and games available, as well as plenty to enjoy outside. The wooded area at the back of the house is where you will find signs directing you to Juniper Creek. The short trail leads to two rustic wooden benches at the creek. The benches and signs are made from cedar trees harvested from the property. Breathe in the fresh air and smell of cedars while listening to the creek flow! If you take a right on the trail, towards Juniper Creek Gulch, there is a small sandy beach area, near the power line easement. There is a wooden picnic table and small grill on one side of the house, with steps out to a fire pit area, with outdoor chairs. We try to keep cut firewood next to the side steps, although not guaranteed. There are multiple places to relax throughout the property, as well as so many great things to do nearby! Be sure to check out our welcome book for our favorite local spots! There are many deer, raccoons, and rabbits that roam freely throughout the property. If you explore the property, you will see deer feeders and hunting blinds. No one will be hunting on our property during your stay. Hunting on our property without permission is illegal. We have solar powered security cameras on the exterior only, for safety and security purposes. Please not the wooded areas and creek should be entered upon your own risk, as there may be insects, animals, fallen trees, stickers, etc. Other things to note There is absolutely no smoking allowed inside the cottage. There are portions of fencing around our property but it is not fully fenced in.
