The Apple House at Shoofly Farm is a luxury rustic king cottage situated on a 200 acre oasis centrally located 15 min from 3 charming towns, Auburn, Opelika & Waverly! The space ABOUT THE APPLE HOUSE The Apple house is one of 3 cabins to choose from on the 32 acre property. Convenient to the Farmhouse and in the thick of all the animals, it is perfect for gazing at the goings on around the farm! Designed for two, it has one wonderful King sized bed with storage underneath, and a nice sized bathroom with shower. The rustic cottage has a smart - satellite TV, and internet access. In the kitchen area, there is bench-style seating at the kitchen table. Sit and sip a cold sweet tea on the front porch and rock to your heart's content while overlooking the horse pasture. There is also a nice sized deck with a grill and chairs to enjoy our wonderful peaceful afternoon sunsets. This converted apple shed is the centerpiece of the farm with flowers and herbs all around. It used to house the picked apples from the orchard, but is now a rustic efficiency cabin known to us as the “Apple House''. (Additional fee- see more information in the “getting around” section below) OUR ANIMAL FAMILY Our sweet horse - Roscoe 9 goats - Belvedere, Nicolina, Scarlet, Rosario, Ginger, Skipper, Gilligan, Jheri Ann, and Jewel. 7 outside cats - Little Juan, Effie, Bonnie, Scar, Puma, Goat Kitty and Fluffers. 1 dog - Opie 25 Chickens and 1 Rooster EXERCISE -State of the art Sports Court - PICKLE BALL - BASKETBALL - SOCCER -Beautiful walking trails on the 200 acre property (old shoes or boots are recommended) -Various exercise machines and activities ———— IN ADDITION to the 3 main floor suites in our Farmhouse, we also offer our Penthouse Retreat on the entire second floor, our private one-bedroom boutique style “Sugar Shack” and our larger, one-bedroom Legacy Cottage. THE LEGACY COTTAGE One of our 3 cottage rentals on the 200 acre property. The Legacy cottage has 1 bedroom with 2 queen size beds , and a large modern bathroom with a shower (and luxury heated floors!) Our renovated modern/rustic cottage boasts a spacious living room with 3 satellite TVs, light filled modern kitchen/breakfast room (sub zero appliances and wolf range, beverage station, and a TV with Satellite as well as internet access). Sit and sip a cold sweet tea on the front porch and swing to your heart's content while overlooking the horse pasture and sunset. Around back and through the three glass kitchen doors is a large back terrace with a grill and outdoor living area. THE SUGAR SHACK The Sugar Shack is a private oasis removed from the farmhouse and has everything you could ever need for a peaceful getaway. Laundry, kitchen, in-room tub, shower, and lavatory. Gorgeous views and complete privacy. Great for a romantic weekend, a memorable honeymoon, or a writer's block remedy. THE MAIN FARMHOUSE RESIDENCE Our main residence, “The Farmhouse” was the original caretakers’ house. This transformed Bed and Breakfast space offers four large, ensuite bedrooms- each with its own bath and climate control. Our two larger rooms in the Farmhouse offer soaking tubs, their own outdoor access, and a sitting area. The Farmhouse features morning coffee, and a wonderful cooked-to-order five-star breakfast. On special occasions, we host a sunset hour on Friday evenings. Lunch and Dinner upon request (additional charge TBD) The home incorporates a new modern interior with a new Poggen Pohl kitchen and baths. We have kept the integrity of the home by reusing all of the original doors, molding, and bead board as well as the original floorplan while adding on a new laundry/mudroom area. We've extended the back porch to incorporate a spacious wrap-around porch for relaxing and dining. We offer occasional yoga classes in warm weather)! ——— The Farm As musicians and entertainers in our past life, we had the itch to create something other people would enjoy. We started this project in 2009 when we bought the old “Poor Farm” in Waverly, Alabama, complete with a very old log cabin “jail” which still has the bars on it. We named the farm Shoofly Farm. (Its actually on maps, finally!) The farm had a mind of its own with TONS of history from many different eras and we desperately wanted to preserve that and build upon the ingenious plan that was already in place. We knew if we started with the big house, we would settle in and the remaining 11 buildings would continue to wither away. So, choosing to rebuild from the outside in was essential and now all the buildings, except two, have been, at least, saved. We now encourage music lovers, sports lovers, animal lovers, and open-minded free thinkers to come and enjoy our hard work. Most suites are equipped with a digital piano and guitars can be added upon request. Just ask! Guest access Legacy Cottage, Sugarshack and Apple House guest will have access to communal areas, the sports court, gym and our many farm trails. For your safety, please refrain from going into the outdoor buildings, and stay on the path. Other things to note -This is a rural setting. Although rare, you may encounter wild animals, critters, insects, snakes, rodents, etc. We do not use harmful chemicals inside and don't use any chemicals outside on our grass or fields. -We ask that you do not drive on the grass, and park only in the designated areas provided. -When on the trails, wear shoes you don’t mind getting dirty and stay out of any buildings along the way in case of a hazard. -We have a tornado shelter for inclement weather that can comfortably fit all attendees. -Because of the nature of the property, we require our guests to fill out and sign a liability form at check-in, in the event of an unforeseen accident.
