Kalliokupu Island Eco Lodge is beautifully situated amidst the island forest (Pohja metsä/Northern Forest) of Vartsala Island. In addition to the glamping accommodations "Eagle's Nest," "Forest Spirit," "Snow Hare Hideout," and "Pine Nest," the 4500m² natural grounds of our eco lodge include a Finnish wood-fired sauna, a spa teepee, a communal outdoor kitchen, a beautiful fire pit, the lounge, our blue island house, and a dry toilet. Kalliokumpu Eco Lodge has its own deep well, its own small sewage treatment plant, and is powered by 100% solar power. The cozy year-round Lotus Belle glamping tent "Eagle's Nest" was built on a wooden platform and lovingly furnished in a modern Scandinavian design. Your 20 m² eco glamping accommodation has a diameter of 5 meters and a height of over 3 meters. Carpeted floors, a wood-burning stove, various tent lights, and a comfortable queen-size bed (160 cm) ensure a cozy atmosphere. Your tent has its own terrace with a table and stools for your private use, as well as an outdoor forest shower. The view and the direct proximity to the island forest are something special. Our nature trail into the archipelago forest begins right next to your terrace. In addition, you'll find everything you need to enhance your nature-oriented stay: cups, plates, and cutlery. Electric candles, tent lanterns, games, fleece blankets, etc., as well as a selection of books about island life and its natural surroundings. The overnight price includes overnight accommodation in a tent, designer bed linen and towels from Finlayson, coffee and tea for self-preparation, drinking water and final cleaning. Guest access sauna For a fee of €40 we will heat up our Finnish sauna for you and you can really relax for 2 hours (every additional hour €10). forest shower & dry toilet Right next to the tent you will find your own outdoor forest shower (we will also bring you warm water :-). A nice ecological dry toilet is located about 20 meters from the tent platform. to make the laundry In our neighboring blue island house you have the possibility to do laundry for a small fee (6 € per wash). Other things to note Book more than 2 guests: The tent is designed for 2 guests! There is a queen bed for two adults. The tent can accommodate a maximum of 4 people. For two more people, we can provide simple extra beds for an extra charge. If you are traveling with children, you have the option of booking a maximum of 2 children as additional guests. Small children up to 2 years old can sleep in the same bed with you at no extra cost. Children (up to the age of 12) are not charged extra and can sleep in the tent with you on sleeping pads. During your stay: We live in the blue island house on the premises of the Kalliokumpu Island EcoLodge and can be reached either on site or by cell phone. We are happy to give tips and tell you our favorite places to discover the island(s) on your own. The island and its surroundings Vartsala Island is a tranquil island and belongs to the Finnish-speaking Kustavi island archipelago. Kustavi is about 60 km northwest of Turku and is easily accessible by bus, bike or car. The island of Vartsala can be reached by a daily car, bicycle and passenger ferry. The ferry departs from the pier in Kustavi (village). Usually every 20 minutes. If you wish, we can also pick you up from the Kustavi bus station on arrival and take you to your glamping experience. On Vartsala there are restaurants, cafes and an island museum. A direct ferry connection takes you from here to the Åland Islands in the immediate vicinity (crossing approx. 45 minutes). Beautiful bathing spots / archipelago beaches are easily accessible by bike (10 minutes by yellow ferry / Lossi to the neighboring island - from there about 2.5 km). There is a supermarket in the village of Kustavi on the neighboring island (short crossing with the yellow ferry/Lossi about 10 minutes). We'll tell you tips, secret places and favorite spots when you're here :-) Vartsala has a wonderful nature trail along the rocky red granite west coast. The sunsets are some of the most beautiful we have ever seen. Outdoor activities & wellbeing experiences In addition to a unique overnight experience in nature, we also offer you the opportunity to participate in micro-adventures and wellbeing experiences at the Kalliokumpu Island EcoLodge. If you are interested, just write to us. We offer, for example, accompanied sea kayak tours in the Kustavi archipelago (€110 pp), a Finnish campfire cooking course and flamed salmon evening (€80 pp), Shinrin-Yoku/ forest bathing (€35 pp), nature coaching (from €80 pp/hour), intuitive archery (from €60 per person/hour), workshops in nature and island photography (€140 per person) and sauna yoga (€35 per person). Breakfast (15 € p.p.) In the morning we serve you our homemade island breakfast (15 € p.p.), which you can enjoy in the tent or on your terrace. Look forward to homemade bread & jam, cheese, homemade granola with yoghurt or real Finnish puuro (porridge). On request organic eggs and typical island fish. Fresh coffee or tea, of course. Bon appetit! Free transfer When you arrive in Kustavi, we are happy to pick you up at the bus station and take you and your luggage to the Kalliokumpu Island EcoLodge. Of course we will bring you back when you leave back to Kustavi (village). stay includes Private transfer from Kustavi bus station (village) upon check-in and check-out.
