Peaceful 200 year old farmhouse with lots of character and charm. The house is comfortable with 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths, 2 queen sized beds, one twin bed, and one twin pullout bed. Large yard with charcoal grill and picnic table, surrounded by the family blueberry fields. 35 miles from Acadia National Park, closer to many beautiful public hiking destinations and boating areas. Enjoy the clear stars at night, lots of wildlife, and the peace and quiet of a small town. My home is 10 minutes from this house and we are readily available. Country neighborhood, general store one mile away, city grocery stores 15 miles away. Country roads, unlimited parking. This farmhouse is surrounded by 14 acres of family blueberry ground. Every year, approximately from July 15 through August 7 we harvest our low bush blueberries and run a fresh-pack business where we clean berries and sell quarts and five and ten pound boxes to the public. We alternate fields and harvest either 6 or 8 acres every year. We run the operation from the garage and work from approximately 8 to 5 when the weather permits. The berries need to be dry for the fresh pack operation so we can't work in early morning dew or on rainy days. We use water from the house to clean equipment, etc., from the outdoor spigot. Five to six people is a good number for running the fresh-pack, which lasts about 7 days (which may not be consecutive) and one person works basically alone harvesting commercial berries, then two people usually load them up at the end of the day to take them to the commercial blueberry factory in nearby Ellsworth. The operation is fairly quiet, with the walk-behind harvesting equipment noise similar to a lawn mower type of noise. The walk -behind is run sporadically days we do fresh-pack and approximately 6 hours a day when we are harvesting for commercial berries. Noise in the house isn't very loud or troublesome, but there are people at the garage almost daily. Avoid these three weeks if you don't have any interest in a local blueberry harvest or if you think the noise or having people around may bother you. Otherwise, you may enjoy watching the harvest and eating the delicious product. Our berries are the best ever.
