The space Willow Creek Farm Stay is located on Willowvale a large working Cattle Farm. The Farm is spread across 680 hectares (it's big) and is nestled deep in the Kanimbla Valley, the Blue Mountain's best kept secret! If you require mobile and data access and you do not already have a Telstra SIM card, you may want to purchase one. Guest access A once in a lifetime experience to be enjoyed by all is the meeting and feeding of the Farm Animals. We have Penelope our mini goat and her two-year-old son Patches. Alfie Boy is our big boy sheep, we have Jackson the alpaca, Teddy, our Hampshire down and a number of his female friends. Along with Lion and Lulu the fluffy feet hens. The Farm is home to about 150 cows. The breed of cow is Speckle Park, these cows are the prettiest cows you will ever see. The cows graze all over the farm, so guests will be able to observe the cows throughout their stay. OTHER THINGS TO NOTE- We conduct an animal feeding with you and your guests. This will be where you are introduced to the resident animals that are used for interacting with farm stay guests. These animals include, goats, sheep, chickens, and on occasion a poddy lamb or a poddy calf. During the animal feeding you will learn how to feed these animals and be able to observe some of their behaviour's. This interaction will also allow you to ask questions. The animals that you meet at this feeding are quite sound and have been handled a fair bit. However, each of these animals are classed as prey animals. If prey animals are frightened that will naturally flee. Please be mindful of this. The animals may rub or at times jump up on people. If you’re not comfortable being around these animals after your official animal feeding. Its best you don’t visit the animals alone. THE PIGS: We do have a small drove of pigs. These pigs are to be observed through the fence of their paddocks. Please do not enter their paddocks or try and pat them through the fence. You may happen to come across some pigs, generally they are piglets that escaped from their paddock, due to be being naughty piglets. Please don’t try and pat them or pick them up. The pigs are located on a different side of the farm to the resident animals. PONIES/HORSES: Please be extremely careful of the ponies/horses. If you do not have horse experience its best to observe the horses behind the fence. Please do not walk behind a pony/horse. If a pony/horse turns around, please ensure that you move so you are not behind them. Horses/ponies are prey animals and if frightened can bite, kick or flee. We do offer horse and pony rides at a charge of $50.00 for half an hour. Please enquire if you are interested. The horses are located on top of the hill. COWS: Our herd of cows are grazed all over the farm. Sometimes they are grazing in the paddocks close to the farm stays. Our cows are generally quite but do not like to be patted or approached. Cows are prey animals, this means that they possess natural instincts to herd together and are adapted to identify and flee threats. If you see a calf, please don’t approach it. Its best when walking around the farm to stay away from the cows and their calves. Other things to note Please ensure children are supervised around the animals at all times. Our family dogs may be seen roaming the farm from time to time. They will not hurt you but may try to lick you! Just a caution in case you have kids who are not comfortable with dogs. The barn cats can also be seen roaming around the farm, again they will not hurt you, they love a good scratch. There is also the option for kid’s pony rides. If this is something you would like to do, please advise when making the booking. (extra charge) Please note there is a discounted rate, for a couple (2people) however you will only have access to the main bedroom, not the other two bedrooms. The nearest supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and shops are in Lithgow or Blackheath, about 45 minutes' drive. Best to do a grocery shop before arriving, if you're coming from the east Katomba is the best Hub. If you're coming from the West Lithgow, is the best Hub. If the property is left in a dirty manner and check out instructions are not followed an additional fee may be charged. If the BBQ is not cleaned after use an additional charge will be applied. If using the spa, guests must ensure that they are clean before entering, no eating or drinking. After each spa use the spa sanitiser must be added (this is supplied) if the water leave goes down it also needs to be re filled. The spa lid must be tied back down. If guests fail to do so, a $75.00 fee will be applied and if the spa lid flies away and is damaged, guests will have to replace the lid.
