Each room is spacious, simply styled, and designed to let you relax, stretch out, and unwind. This home is perfect for family gatherings, friends’ reunions, walkers and cyclists, nature lovers, creatives, remote workers, and anyone who appreciates characterful, historic interiors over minimalist modern spaces. Step into the grounds, and you’ll feel your cares melt away. Surrounded by trees, birdsong, and wildlife, it’s not unusual to spot red squirrels or deer wandering through the garden. The serene natural setting provides a sense of calm that stays with you throughout your stay. Inside, the large farmhouse kitchen and dining room seats eight around the table — ideal for shared meals and lively conversation. The kitchen is fully equipped for those who love to cook, with a gas stove, electric fan oven, and everything you need to create delicious meals, while guests can chat and relax at the table. The sitting room is flooded with morning light from tall French windows and features a large corner sofa, two armchairs, and a wood-burning stove for cozy evenings. A flat-screen TV with streaming services like Netflix, Apple TV and Amazon Prime is available for movie nights, and a dedicated desk space with high speed wi-fi makes it easy to work if needed. For cycling enthusiasts, lockable barns are available, making La Bruyère a perfect stop-off for exploring the rolling hills and quiet country roads. A selection of bikes is provided for guests to use. At the back of the house, the conservatory offers a peaceful spot to enjoy the garden and watch wildlife in the wilder areas — deer are frequent visitors, adding to the magic of the grounds. Guest access Guests can access all areas of the house and the grounds that surround it, but we ask you do not enter the barns. There is a 2 bedroom cottage in the grounds, we ask that if it is also booked, you give them their privacy and avoid walking too close to their surrounding area. We ask that they do the same for you. The woods north of the house do not belong to us, but the farmer who owns them is OK about people walking in them. Please be respectful and mindful that this is his private property, and avoid them during the hunting season. Other things to note There is ample parking at the front of the house in front of the left side barn. Please get in touch asap if you have any questions, and we will endeavour to help. This is a large house, equipped with all sorts of supplies such as herbs and spices, tea, coffee etc. It is also our part-time home! So there are many items to keep an eye on. It is not an empty modern space, so if this is what you prefer, it is probably not the right setting for you! We hope it appeals to like-minded individuals. We have an above ground pool for the warmer summer months,, from June- September, this is shared with the gite, so if bookings overlap we hope you all enjoy meeting up by the pool! This saves on water (a scarce resource in this hotter weather) and maintenance for us, we are hoping to dig a natural swimming pool for long term use.
