Editor's Villa with grand Himalayan view

The personal retreat of NDTV executive editor Vishnu Som & family, this elegant hilltop villa nestles amid oak forests with stunning views of the Trishul-Nanda Devi range. It is a piece of heaven with a superb 24/7 caretaker, excellent full-time cook and WiFi. Across 2 floors, 3 bedrooms are ensuite with dressing rooms, bathrooms. The master bedroom is all glass and provides stunning views of the peaks & valleys. The g-floor & 1-floor patios are ideal for reading, leisurely teas & evening drinks The space Our cottage lies atop a hill off the main Ranikhet-Almora highway in Uttarakhand. It is our home away from home, a place we love very dearly. We enjoy the peace and quiet of the area and the stunning views (no exaggeration!) that it offers. We also provide an experienced caretaker, Kailash, who lives in quarters on the premises, and an adept fulltime cook to assist you. The cook will need to be booked in advance and paid separately for his services and for all provisions needed for cooking. His fee is 500 per day for two meals and 800 per day for 3 meals. He can make delicious, wholesome Indian meals - both veg and non-veg. There are also a number of cafes nearby as well as the ITC Windsor Lodge (15 mins by car). There are artisanal stores for handmade knitwear and organic jams and pickles a short walk away, directions to all of these can be given by Kailash. You are welcome to tip the caretaker and the cook when you check out. This is not a place for raucous parties. It is a quiet hill-home where we respect nature and the privacy of others in the area. Water is a precious asset which we use judiciously. Please do not smoke in the cottage. There is proper WIFI access, an inverter, a kitchenette with a cooking range, microwave and refrigerator. Airtel and Jio 4G connectivity is not a problem. There is a television in the living room with Tata-Sky access. A basement below the cottage has a TT table and overlooks a patch of green with a hedge of seasonal flowers. Access to our home is through a recently paved private road. The cottage lies in a gated estate which has been fenced off to ward off wild-animals. The cottage has both mountain views and valley views and is surrounded by thick oak forests. Parking for vehicles is available outside the cottage in designated spots. Guest access Guests have access to the entire cottage during their stay. Our cottage has its own garden patch adjacent to the basement - there are two other cottages next to us - their outdoor spaces are not accessible to our guests. Other things to note We are close to the Majkhali market - 5 mins away by car - where provisions are available. Kailash, our care-taker, can fetch groceries too at an extra cost. Many small restaurants and eateries dot the area and can be visited for lunch & dinner. There is a hospital 15 minutes away and Ranikhet cantonment is 20 minutes & the Ranikhet Golf Course is 10 minutes away. There are many local places of interest - the Kalika Temple, Kasar Devi, an ancient Sun Temple at Katarmal, Sitlakhet - are all day excursions. Our cottage has many books to read - but please read with love and do not damage any!
