Countryside Suite, The Choate Farmhouse

Just 20 minutes from Route 1! Centrally located to the BEST of Maine's MidCoast region. A private addition, on an 18th century-built farmhouse located in the quaint, old-world town of Whitefield. Book your stay in the countryside and enjoy peaceful, light pollution free nights away from the tourism of "Vacationland". 20 mins to Wiscasset, 33 mins to Boothbay, 44 mins to Camden, 41 mins to The Lost Kitchen in Freedom and so much to see in between! The space Not too big, not too small but just right.... all you need to cook some meals if you wish, relax, rest well and reset. Upstairs you will find a large open bedroom with a queen bed, walk-in closet (w/old style commode and room to sit or sprawl out your yoga mat. Window A/C unit for warm nights and heater for chilly times. Atop the staircase, you will find an unfinished/uninsulated space with two rockers to enjoy your morning coffee or sundown out the big, screened window facing west overlooking the garden. Downstairs you have a cozy living room with TV streaming Amazon/Discovery+, Hulu and Netflix. Small kitchen with stove/oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, French press, traditional coffee pot, toaster and more. Pick up some fresh seafood or stop at the local farmstands to make fresh, homecooked meals. Dining space to enjoy those meals and gaze out the back field, possibly catching some wildlife passing through. Heat pump in place to keep you cool during warmer days. Second bedroom is quite small. A twin XL occupies most of the space. There are two closets with shelving. In the attached bathroom (the only bathroom, there's a closet for hanging clothing items. *This room also serves as a space to finish getting ready with an outlet and full-length mirror. *Guests staying upstairs will have to walk through this room in order to use the bathroom. PLEASE look at floorplan picture to get an idea of the layout. Standard bathroom with full size tub/shower combo. *No electrical outlet in bathroom for hairdryer, etc. Morning sunlight throughout with shaded afternoons. Country living at its best! Guest access Although the rental is attached to the main house (where host lives), there's a separate entrance for you to come and go as you please as well as enough separation for privacy. Other things to note IMPORTANT!!! There's a staircase, 12 steps going up to the bedroom. These are steep and may be a challenge for some. The bathroom is on the main floor; this means coming down to use the restroom. Motion lights, as well as an overhead light can be turned on and handrail are in place for your safety. Host is happy to bring luggage upstairs should that be helpful. There's also a low spot on the stairs (signs posted as well as padding), most guests will have to duck for that step. Upstairs the roof pitch will have taller guests tilting their head in some areas (please see pictures). These could be a challenge for some or slippery with particular shoes when wet. Please use caution. Host will shovel, sand and use ice melt to help during winter. Almost two football fields (722 feet) from the rental (up the field on the property), homeowner hosts one campsite for reservations. This could potentially be booked during your stay. The distance is quite far, allowing for privacy. If for any reason there's a problem during your stay with the campers, host will be available to rectify the situation immediately. There's been no issue reported so far since opening in 2022. COLD MONTHS: The area between the two levels (staircase going up to bedroom) is not heated or insulated. It will be cold!
