Description
This thoughtfully converted barn is nestled on 50acres of regenerating farmland beside the Kauaeranga River. A genuine hidden gem, the barn is designed for stargazers, romantics, and runaways. Explore local towns and markets, or watch sheep TV through your window. The Pinnacles and other trails are here when you're ready, and the river's emerald pools close enough to hear. In winter, pour a good glass, settle in with a book, or gaze at the fire as the silent hills fade into the mist. 🌳⛰️🌈 The space The barn is understated, yet memorable. Fifty square metres of open-plan living that works whether it's pouring or blazing. A simple kitchen, proper bathroom, super king bed and Warmington log burner create an intimate space with quiet elegance. Cotton sheets and real coffee lift things up a notch, while the plywood and reclaimed timber interior nail that mountain cabin feeling. High-speed internet is there if work calls. The forest park starts just minutes up the road, with walks and hikes for every mood. Mountain bikers can follow the river to the valley head—a gentle hour and a half return that winds with the water. The surrounding towns offer plenty to discover, including Thames' Saturday morning market that's worth the early start. *Please note the fire bowl cannot be used in summer months due to fire bans in the area* The barn faces north with peaceful views across pasture to the hills beyond. You might wake to sheep at your window—this is a working farm, after all. Easy parking for two cars, and Thames is just fifteen minutes down the road. Being a small holding surrounded by other small farms, you'll occasionally hear the hum of farm life—a tractor passing by, the odd farm bike—but it's never for long. Unfortunately the barn is not suitable for children due to water features on the property. **please note, I also have a dog who likes to pop in and meet guests. He is friendly but if you are fearful of dogs this may not be the right stay for you** While you're staying on a farm, this isn't a farm stay experience for safety reasons. **On occasion the river may rise if there is heavy rain. You will need to leave your car on the other side of the river and use the footbridge** The kitchen is equipped with: oven, stovetop, toaster, kettle, fridge, coffee percolator, cooking implements. We supply: tea, real coffee, sugar, olive oil, salt, pepper, firewood (winter and autumn) Bedding: All linen, towels, dishcloths, cleaning products, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap. Magazines, books, board games. Guest access Thames township is only fifteen minutes away. Access is through the front bifold doors of the shed. Other things to note On occasion the river may rise if there is heavy rain making the vehicle access bridge impassable. Please check the forecast 24 hrs ahead of your arrival date. If the river is up, you will need to leave your car on the other side and use the footbridge. The walk from the bridge to the barn is 200m. If I am home I can collect you from the footbridge and deliver you and your bags to the barn.
