Sitting on the flanks of Prospect Mountain, our airy home overlooks the entire continental divide. Sip your morning coffee as the sun lights up Sundance Buttress, Lumpy Ridge and the high peaks. Tons of wildlife since we abut open space. - Woodstove for cozy winter evenings - Restaurants & groceries are 1 min away - Great basecamp for 4 The space Real quick -- house rules: - No early check in or late checkouts. Check in is 4pm or later; check out is 10am or earlier. - No smoking inside or out, no outdoor fire pits, no parties - Guests must do dishes on checkout (we have negotiated a lower cleaning fee based on this) - Accurate guest count mandatory; max capacity is 4 humans - We're on a septic system so flush only human waste and toilet paper Onward! I'm so excited to welcome guests into my mountain cabin, perched on the side of Prospect Mountain. The views from the deck are sublime, and define my home. Each morning you can watch Sundance Buttress light up, and each evening you can enjoy the sun setting to the west behind the high peaks of Rocky Mountain National Park. My 720-square-foot cabin features two bedrooms on the first floor and an open living/dining/dining area on the upper floor. Enjoy the wood stove from a comfy sofa, chill out with a coffee and a book, or cook up a feast in a fully stocked kitchen. A beautiful deck off the upper floor features a gas grill, outdoor dining table, and ample space for morning yoga or just hanging out. The home's location is awesome -- it's on the west side of town, so you don't need to deal with National Park traffic each morning as you head off for your daily adventures. The Beaver Meadows entry gate (the main gate to the Park) is about five minutes away. My favorite restaurant, Bird and Jim, is just a minute away (as is our great local grocer, Country Supermarket). Downtown is 5 minutes away, and you can fish in Marys Lake, which is 2 minutes away. Eldora Ski Resort is 50 mins away; back country skiing at Hidden Valley is 20 mins away; and the Estes Park golf courses are about 5 mins away. Prospect Mountain is a huge open space, which acts as a wildlife sanctuary of sorts. This means there are a ton of animals roaming around, and you're nearly guaranteed to see elk, deer and other creatures wandering through the yard. Prospect is home to wild turkeys, bear, mountain lion, bobcat and more. As with all homes in Estes, you will need AWD or 4WD from May to October - remember that Estes Park is about 7,500 feet and we can get a fair amount of snow. BEDROOMS Our home offers 2 bedrooms on the first floor.. One has a queen bed with a medium-firm memory foam mattress, and the other has a bunk bed with a full and a single. LIVING & ENTERTAINMENT Living Room -There's a smart television with Roku, so you can stream away with your Netflix, Amazon Prime, Sling, Hulu, or other account. The centerpiece of the living room is a cozy woodburning stove (bring your own firewood) which makes winter evenings so so so enjoyable. WiFi - Our home has free WiFi so you can stream, etc. COOKING & LAUNDRY Kitchen - Our kitchen features a stove and oven, fridge, freezer, pots, pans, plates, glasses, cutting boards, drip coffee maker and other assorted small appliances. That being said, there are a ton of awesome restaurants super close by: Bird and Jim, Scratch Deli, Smokin' Dave's BBQ, and the Rock Inn. Laundry - We do not have a laundry machine, but a great coin-op facility is a few blocks away. DISTANCES + Marys Lake, Supermarket, Restaurants: 1 min drive + National Park Entrance: 5 min drive + Golfing: 7 min drive + Downtown: 7 min drive + Backcountry Skiing at Hidden Valley: 20 min drive + Eldora Ski Resort: 50 min drive Guest access Guests enjoy unfettered access to our home, including: 2 bedrooms 1 bathroom 1 kitchen/dining/living area Wood stove (bring your own firewood) Deck with jaw dropping views Two private off street parking spots Other things to note NOISE Events, loud music and noises, and parties are strictly prohibited. Please be respectful of your noise levels. FIRES Estes Park nearly burned to the ground in 2020 after the two largest fires in Colorado history burned simultaneously just miles from our house. As a result, outdoor fire pits are now illegal at short term rentals. Also, no smoking inside or out due to the location on a windy hillside. NONPAYING GUESTS Insurance requires that nonpaying and non-registered guests are not allowed on property. Your guest count must be correct. Note that in the town of Estes Park, INFANTS COUNT TOWARD THE MAXIMUM GUEST COUNT. AIR CONDITIONER Estes has a mild mountain climate in the summers but from time to time it can get hot. Like nearly every other home in town, there’s no A/C. The cool evening breeze will cool the home down quickly. BEARS Do NOT leave food in your car! Bears frequent this area and can break in! MINUT We use a Minut noise meter. It doesn't record audio, but instead monitors decibel levels, temperature and humidity. This is for the safety of guests & to protect the home. It also serves to warn us about parties & prevent noise complaints from neighbors. It's located on the cieling in the kitchen.
