The code will be sent to you before you arrive. Other things to note We bought our cottage four years ago and have carefully and lovingly renovated it. Having lived here in the past, we have made sure that it’s a lovely place and look forward to welcoming you to our cottage. The house is perfectly placed for Cheltenham racecourse. Frequently Asked Questions: Can I bring a dog? Yes, we love hosting guests with well-behaved dogs. The courtyard is gated to prevent easy escape. We also respectfully ask that you follow our house rules and keep your dog downstairs and off furniture and of course clear up any mess in the courtyard. How high are the ceilings: Despite the cottage dating back to 1850, the ceilings are not too low, there is one beam across the house that is about 2m from the floor. Of course, there are sloping ceilings on the first floor, but these should not create a problem when you are lying down! The bathroom ceiling height is 2.1m. Is the cottage detached? No, the cottage is terraced, but don't worry about noise from the adjoining cottage, both neighbours are hardly there! Do you have parking? We don't have parking on the property but there is 'free' parking on the street directly outside the cottage. We have never struggled to park multiple cars ourselves. So your car may or may not be in front of the cottage – although we mostly managed to park 2-5m distance away. The parking is on the “old road” so away from the main road running through Alderminster. Is the patio overlooked? No, the patio is surrounded by fences and brick walls and is a very secluded south-facing haven to relax and unwind in. Are the stairs steep? No, but they are the original staircase, so it is narrow but cute! Is there a downstairs toilet? No, when the cottage was first equipped with a WC, it was an outside building, but now you will be pleased to know that all the facilities are indoors! However, due to the layout of the cottage, the bathroom is upstairs. Is there air conditioning? No, 99% of the time the cottage is a lovely ambient temperature and for those crazy extra hot summer nights we provide a fan. Is there secure bicycle storage? No there isn’t, although you may store bicycles in the courtyard, we suggest you lock them and you may prefer to bring your own padlock for the courtyard gate, but we do provide one. If your bike is one like my husband's then store them inside. The downstairs is fully tiled, it can be easily cleaned from muddy bikes or dog paws. Is it possible to work from the cottage? Yes, we have equipped the cottage with fibre from EE which has excellent wifi as well as an ethernet cable option (we leave a cable for you, but you may need an adaptor for some laptops. The router is downstairs near to the dining room table, so you can sit and work comfortably. How is the cottage heated? The cottage is centrally heated with radiators in all the rooms. Is it OK to barbecue? Yes! We have a barbecue for you, although we do not supply charcoal. You can buy this from Waitrose (5 minute drive away) Can I rent a hot tub for my stay? Unfortunately, we do not allow our guests to rent hot tubs for use at the cottage.
