Description
Built in 1856, 11 Monteviot originally belonged to a British tea planter called Mr. Kerr. Flash forward to today and this luxury self-catering homestay is a beguiling melange of creative style and romantic ideologies. Sat upon an idyllic town called Kharsang (Land of the White Orchids), the homestay is away from the buzz of Darjeeling The large windows and balconies open straight out onto the garden offering breathtaking views of the snowy peaks of Kangchedzonga and the Balasun river. The space Wake to the soulful warbles of our resident Whistling Thrush and relax in the patio with a hot cup of carefully curated Darjeeling tea. There’s no disguising the passion for reading and gardening that the owner possesses, with a vintage collection of books sitting alongside a lovingly-tended garden of the most beautiful blooms. Other things to note Enjoy a day of rambling along Dowhill’s wooded trails or hike down to the Balasun river before retreating to your cozy bedroom. Green-fingered guests may spend many an hour ensconced in the kitchen garden, with bright, brimming borders and stories by Robin the gardener. Chase the sunset in a vintage Mercedes Benz or sink into the hot tub as the light fades in the horizon. Lazy mornings and languid days are much-encouraged at this characterful hideaway with our resident dog Mowgli for company (if you are a dog person :D)
