Award-winning Ecological Architecture on Bonete Beach
Description
Located in an exuberant tropical beach that's never crowded, because it's in an isolated community and can only be reached by trail or boat. The house integrates seamlessly into dense Atlantic Rain Forest with beautiful waterfalls, while providing all the comfort you can expect from an award winning design. A perfect getaway with with solar energy and satellite starlink internet. The space This house is a product of much love, creativity and work. It has been designed by professional architects using recyclable materials and permaculture principles. For example, all gray water is treated in a closed loop bio-septic tank that feeds a banana plantation. It won the 1th Prize for "Architecture - Built Work Award" on the 10th Young Architects Award of the Architecture Institute of Brazil. Search the web for "casa bonete pedro saito" for more details. Guest access The house, the garden and the grounds including the river and small waterfall are all accessible to guests. The tower is used by the caretaker as a tool shed and for general house construction and maintenance and are not to be used by guests. We also have surfboards if you want to enjoy the nice tubular waves on the beach. Other things to note The area is well known for a persistent mosquito called "borrachudo" that bites during the day. Make sure to pack plenty of insect repellent and to wear loose covering clothes. We recommend using the mosquito linings provided for each bed at night. If you are sensitive or allergic to mosquito bites then Bonete won't be a pleasant experience for you. Since the house is attached to the State Park's permanent reservation area, you could encounter snakes and insects, please be careful when adventuring into the park. Electricity is limited, provided by solar panels (backup hydroelectric community generator). Please use economically. Hairdryers or such are not allowed. Take flashlights for when there's no electricity and for walking on the paths at night since there are no public lights.
