Kind regards Carsten Other things to note On the property there is also the popular excursion restaurant Schiffers Rast with beer garden which is open from spring to autumn. We would like to invite you to a small simple breakfast consisting of rolls for self-baking, jam, honey and Nutella, coffee and tea. The Pension zur Schleuse is otherwise geared towards self-catering. In the common lounge there is a kitchen where each guest prepares their own breakfast. In the village of Witzeeze, a baker's cart selling fresh baked goods in the morning can be found in the parking lot on the main road. In Büchen (about 3 km away) there are other bakers with breakfast offers and also extensive shopping opportunities and all major supermarkets are available. The guest house "An der Schleuse" is located directly on the Elbe-Lübeck Canal, where the Alte Salzstraße bike path also runs. The Alte Salzstraße cycle path leads from Lüneburg to Lübeck on the trail of the historic salt trade route. It connects the two Hanseatic cities and is 115 kilometers long. The Elbe-Lübeck Canal unites the Elbe near Lauenburg with the Trave in Lübeck over a length of around 60 kilometers. The canal, which was opened in 1900, is the connecting route between the Elbe and the Baltic Sea. Today, the Elbe-Lübeck Canal is used by smaller inland waterway vessels to transport bulk goods and for recreational boats. Witzeeze is an idyllic community in the countryside with lots of nature in the form of cultural landscape, forests and natural gravel lakes as well as a historically grown village center. From the original farming village, the structural change in agriculture has developed into a cozy residential area with optimal transport links to the metropolises of Hamburg, Lübeck or Lüneburg.
