Nestled in the foothills of western North Carolina, Yellow Mountain Cottage is the perfect home base for your adventures in "Nature's Playground". This unique property is located just minutes from Lake James, the Linville and Catawba Rivers, endless hiking and biking trails, and the beautiful historic downtown areas of Morganton and Marion. The cozy cottage is perfect for a weekend getaway as a couple, or you can take advantage of our bunk room and bring the whole family. The space The cottage was built in the 1940s but has been fully renovated and tastefully restored with lots of charm and comfort in mind to make you feel right at home. Beautiful antique hardwood floors line the main living area and personal touches can be found throughout the decor. Each bedroom has a closet and dresser to unpack and make your stay comfortable. The kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, dishes, utensils, spices, and basics. You also have a full-sized refrigerator, washer, dryer, dishwasher, microwave, and coffee pot. The covered front porch has a swing and rockers, and the expansive yard has a charming white picket fence with gardens that are filled with perennial flowers and herbs to enjoy year-round. The back deck is the perfect spot to enjoy dinner outdoors with a large dining table, an antique glider with a huge shade umbrella, and Blackstone cast iron grill. Step off the deck into the huge backyard with a stone fire pit (firewood provided), tree swings for the kids, and lots of room to run and play. The cottage is perfectly located less than one mile to the Catawba River, 10 minutes to Lake James, and 15 minutes to Lake Rhodhiss. The area is a fisherman's dream with incredible smallmouth, walleye, and trout waters. The property has plenty of room to park your boats. The beautiful Fonta Flora trail is perfect for hikers and bikers alike, and is just a quick 10 minute drive away. It's only 5 miles to downtown Morganton with a huge selection of restaurants, breweries, cafes, and shops, and more.
