Automatic generator. Ex-Broadway summer stock theater on the grounds (with well-maintained concert piano, for use by serious musicians only), may be rented additionally. The space Unique 1840's, partially modern, 6 bedroom farmhouse on designated historical property, with rocking-chair porch, original wide floorboards, oak beams, comfortable bedrooms and a contemporary, octagonal kitchen with many windows. The house sits atop a knoll overlooking 20 acres of rolling pasture, barns and swimming/fishing pond. The grounds are protected against ticks. The house has an automatic backup generator, so that even power outages will not stop the fun. We can provide a wheel chair ramp into the house, with prior notice. A perfect getaway for family and friends, the house features a fully equipped, 1,000 sq ft. octagonal gourmet kitchen, complete with professional 8-burner stove, double oven, additional professional steam oven, espresso machine, Italian tiled floor (radiant heating) and dining table for twelve. If outdoor cooking is more your style a large stainless barbeque gas grill sits waiting for you out back. Be sure to ask about our Private Chef team for your dining-in needs! If you ever leave the kitchen, you will find a billiard table, a living room with cozy couches, perfect for conversation or watching one of the hundreds of channels offered by Spectrum TV. Separate library for quiet time, with built in bookshelves, pretty desk, easy chair and queen size sleeper sofa, digital piano with headphones, and a propane fireplace. There are plenty of games and puzzles for all ages just waiting to be enjoyed. All six bedrooms, including four king beds, and two queens, come with fresh linens and comforters. There is one bedroom on the ground floor, with a bathroom, for those less excited about stairs. In need of solitude for yoga or a workout? Enjoy our Quiet Room off the stables with yoga mats, a desk for some quiet space to work, and a Peloton Bike. The house is part of a unique farm, a peaceful place with an old Broadway summer stock theater no longer used professionally. (Professional musicians can rent the space, or ask to practice the 9' Boesendorfer on the stage there.) Mostly, though, this is a peaceful place for bird and wildlife watchers. Acres of manicured lawns lead you to private groupings of Adirondack chairs perfect for a morning coffee or watching the sunset. There are plenty of places to stroll – perhaps a walk around the pond to see how the kids are making out on their fishing expedition… a cocktail in the vegetable garden… a game of bocce on the back lawn… poolside picnic… or a relaxing evening in the private 4-person hot tub (Hot tub will be turned off in the Summer if there is a drought). All of our lawns are treated with tick repellant to promote a safe environment. In the warmer months (JUNE, JULY, AUGUST) enjoy the fifty-foot fenced in in-ground swimming pool. The pool house is fully equipped with a bathroom , refrigerator, stereo and iPod dock and plenty of seating and toys for long days of relaxation. There is a granite ping pong table open all year, and a huge netted trampoline in the back yard. The ¾-acre pond is a great place to fish, swim, or paddle across in the 3-4-person rowboat. Sitting beside the pond is a stone fire pit that is just waiting to roast all the marshmallows you crave. The owner lives on the property in the building referred to as the "barn" as well as ducks, chickens, very friendly goats, and 2 adorable dogs over by the stables. The other structures are downhill from the Main House, and well-screened by all-year shrubbery. You'll also find the Property Manager around, feel free to say hello or ask him for anything you may need. A centrally heated/airconditioned, very private now ex-summer stock theater in the barn has the property owner's impeccably-kept Boesendorfer concert piano from Vienna's Musikverein on the stage. This is not a toy, and is only used privately, including for occasional rehearsals by professional musicians. The theater can also be rented for family occasions, by prior arrangement. PLEASE UNDERSTAND - WE DO NOT PERMIT GATHERINGS OR PARTIES ON OUR PROPERTY WITHOUT PRIOR ARRANGEMENT. Dogs are allowed, but you must notify us before bringing them, including if they shed. Some guests are allergic to dog hair, and this requires special cleaning. 2 dogs is the maximum for a reservation. If you bring more, there will be a fee. They cannot be permitted on the beds, and the yard has to be cleaned after them -- we supply doggie bags. If we have to clean up after your dogs, we will have to charge you for this. The property has a resident dog, a young, child-friendly, very silly Irish Setter who will want to play fetch or go for a walk with you. He barks at strangers as a way of inviting them to play. He is one of the sweetest dogs on the planet. An invisible fence prevents him from coming near the guest house. There is absolutely no smoking inside the house! Receptacles have been provided on both sides of the house for proper disposal. Only the guests that the reservation is made for are permitted to sleep in the house. . You will find a guide book in the house that lists all restaurants, shops and amenities in the area. We are not a hotel, but concierge service is available as an additional expense, paid our rental manager. She can arrange restaurant reservations, assist with directions, appointments, catering meals, at a charge of $50 an hour. She will be happy to help. **Pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day* The center of the charming Village of Rhinebeck is less than 5 minutes away and the Amtrak train to NYC or Albany is less than 10 minutes away. Nestled in the heart of the Hudson Valley, Rhinebeck has something for everyone. Two hours from New York City by car or by Amtrak, the village has a small town feel with cute shops and a wonderful vibe. With the Culinary Institute only 15 minutes away, the whole region is peppered with great restaurants, farmer's markets and local meat and produce shops. There are countless parks where you can take a casual stroll over looking the Hudson or do some of the most serious hiking and rock climbing on the East Coast. Rich in history, the Hudson River Valley has historical sites, mansions to tour and old towns and villages, some dating back three hundred years. You can get a taste of country life with a hayride or pick-your-own farms or explore nearby places like Woodstock, Hudson, Millbrook and Kingston. For the kids, there is the Old Aerodrome, which has antique airplanes on display and air shows. For older kids, horse farms, sportsman’s clubs, golf courses, and dozens of streams and lakes for fishing surround Rhinebeck. Bard College and the Fisher Center for the Arts is only ten minutes away. Guest access Lake, well maintained hot tub, twenty mostly landscaped acres. Stables. Fishing, rowing and swimming in lake. Granite all-season ping pong table. Swimming pool with pool house. Flower gardens, fruit trees, grape vines, a vegetable and herb garden for all to help themselves. Please note: Our pool is *guaranteed* to be open and heated from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend. We sometimes open a week or two earlier. And we do extend beyond Labor Day as long as the weather remains warm – often into early October. (If the daytime temperature dips below 70 F for 3 consecutive days, we close the pool. In recent years this has happened between Sept 21-Oct 8. Please understand that this is at our discretion and there is unfortunately *no guarantee* that the weather will remain warm. Thank you). Other things to note The generator makes the house one of the few not to be troubled by frequent power outages. Spectrum provides the highest speed internet available in the area.
