We invite you to come and experience this sweet little lake cottage: Owl Feather Overlook. Tucked away in a woodland cove overlooking Lay Lake, a quiet respite awaits. FEATURES: Newly renovated French Country-style open floor plan, offering spectacular lake and forest views from floor-to-ceiling windows. The main room consists of a well-equipped kitchen, a large farmhouse table, and a stocked coffee bar. Living/sun room: the kitchen opens directly to the sun room with floor-to-ceiling views of the surrounding forest and lake. There is a 50-inch Smart TV to stream your favorite accounts, along with a wide selection of DVDs. An electric fireplace (in addition to central heating) takes the chill out of the air or can be used without heat to create a little atmosphere. Loft area: a modular staircase ascends to the loft area where you can lie in bed and enjoy the forest and lake views on a full-size bed. Main Bedroom: Queen bed, dresser, closet, and an additional AC unit. Bathroom: sink, small single-stall shower, and all the accessories you need. ACCESSIBILITY & LAYOUT This home requires walking on a gravel pathway and going up two stairs to the entrance. Once inside the home, there is a modular staircase to access the 2nd bedroom in the loft. There are several stairs with landings descending to the lake area below. - 1 Main bedroom with Queen Bed - 1 Loft bedroom with Full Bed Outdoor Area: The outdoor space boasts a fire pit, bistro porch, and deck with bar seating that overlooks the lake. A three-burner Weber gas grill enables you to cook a sizzling steak while admiring the spectacular lake views. As you descend the stairs there are several landings to stop and savor the view among the trees, or sit, be still, and allow the fresh air and cool lake breeze to soothe your soul. Fire pit: fire ring and seating for four Bistro table and chairs for enjoying your morning coffee Deck with Weber grill and bar seating for four. A covered boat dock to secure your bass or pontoon boat. Kayak Rack: Launch up to four kayaks ( 3 sit-on, 1 sit-in) from the dock area. Boat Trailer Parking: Park your trailer on the large gravel driveway or across the road along the wood line. Launch at Cedar Creek (now called Millie's) Marina just 5 miles down the road. From the dock sitting area, you can enjoy expansive views of the marsh and the lake, though be aware the water level in the cove is shallow. Guest access Guests have full access to the cottage, including the fire pit, decks, grounds, and WiFi. Please do not access private storage areas. Other things to note Gravel Road There is a 1.2-mile gravel road that can accommodate most cars; however, an SUV or truck is recommended for the occasional rough spots after heavy rain. We have no problem driving slowly with our minivan Covered Dock There is a covered dock that can accommodate your bass or pontoon boat, as well as a large gravel driveway and grassy area to park your trailer. Kayaks We also have four kayaks (3 sit on top, 1 sit-in) available for your entire stay. Life vests and signed kayak waivers are required for each person. Kayak waivers are located in the guest book or can be sent electronically. Once the signed waivers are received, we will send the combinations to the locks. Please place the kayaks back up on the rack after use and secure the locks. A modular staircase with a handrail ascends to the loft (350-pound weight limit). Please use caution when ascending and descending. We recommend you face the staircase going both up and down and please assist children. Will be decorated for Christmas.
