Ye Olde Barn has been lovingly renovated and updated while preserving and emphasizing its old farm charm. The Barn offers you the best value in town because of its size and its multiple living spaces. We are Vermonters and love our environment. We have installed solar panels to help reduce our carbon footprint. We strongly encourage you to recycle while in our home. The space Come experience a charming and cozy home with a distinct Vermont flavor. HEALTH AND SAFETY We take our guests health and safety very seriously. We offer self-check in with detailed instructions on how to gain access to the property with your very own code to ease your mind--all old access codes are erased. The home is also equipped with fire extinguishers, wired-in smoke and CO2 detectors for the entire home. THE BARN Just minutes away from Jay Peak and right on Main Street in Montgomery Center, this home is a short walking distance from a supermarket, restaurants, the Trout River, and local bars to help you relax after enjoying your favorite year-round Vermont outdoor activities. The Barn has been lovingly renovated and updated while preserving and emphasizing its old farm rustic charm. Come and relax while you admire the work of a master carpenter throughout the whole house, from its handmade winding staircase to the wooden light switch cover plates. HOUSE RULES There is a binder in the kitchen area with local information for your convenience as well as general house information and rules. We encourage you to please help us maintain the place well kept for the comfort and convenience of all guests. Please be respectful of our neighbors and do help us by keeping noise down starting at 10 pm until 6 am the next morning. We also request that you limit the number of vehicles to four and that you park off the street. EATING IN OR EATING OUT There is a dining room and also a formal dining room for your convenience and comfort. The formal dining room boasts a 12 foot high stained glass window sure to impress you. The kitchen is fully stocked with a nice assortment of pots and pans as well as plates, glasses, and silverware. There is also plenty of counter space if you feel like cooking; however, if you are not serious about cooking a meal, there are a number of options just across the street at The Inn or at Bernie's just down the street. If you do not want to walk, there is also The Belfry a short drive just up the mountain. Either way, we will leave some bottled water and some snacks. For your convenience, the kitchen is equipped with a DW, LP oven, electric cook top, and a microwave. There is also a spice rack, a professional coffee grinder for your favorite flavor of coffee beans, a drip coffee maker, and a Keurig machine. There is also a pizza oven and large grill outside--please let us know if you will be using either one. THE LAYOUT The main part of the home has 3 bedrooms and two full bathrooms as well as plenty of living room area. For larger groups, there is a bonus studio living area for an additional fee. The Master has two queen size beds and is separated from the other bedrooms for some privacy. The next bedroom has a queen and a twin. The third bedroom has a queen bed and a day bed. There is a small sofa bed in the living room upstairs for additional guests. All three bedrooms have closets. The two full bathrooms are located one on each floor. There is a laundry room on the main floor as well. The larger living area upstairs includes a full sofa, the small sofa bed, a ping pong table, Smart TV with basic cable, and an XBox One game system. The living room downstairs has a large couch and recliners, TV, and an antique Grand Piano. We kindly ask that only people who know how to play or treat a piano with respect are allowed to use it. Larger groups usually opt for the bonus studio area for an additional fee. The studio has a twin on queen bunk bed, and it includes the third bathroom (with garden soaker tub), kitchenette, eating, and living area. Please be advised that the studio is owner occupied during the Summer months unless occupied by guests. HEATING and AIR CONDITIONERS There is plenty of heat during the cold months. The Barn has a Rinnai heater and three additional propane fireplaces--two of them are handmade Vermont Hearthstone. We know you are coming to enjoy the town, but we also know you come to enjoy the outdoors year-round. For that purpose, we provide you with a large, heated mud room for all your gear with plenty of space to secure your equipment away from the street. There is no central AC at the Barn. However, this area of Vermont remains pleasant during the Summer months. Should the weather turned warm, there are portable air conditioners for the bedrooms (the condensation buckets do need to be monitored and emptied intermittently) and a mini split with AC air handlers for the two living rooms. PETS ARE PEOPLE TOO We welcome small to medium size, non-aggressive dogs. We prefer the hypo-allergenic dog breeds. Please check with us first on your dog breed. Also be advised there is a $100 pet fee for your first and $25 extra for the second. WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY The hosts urge all guests to use the Barn's features, facilities, and grounds in the safest manner. While we continue to improve the house, we welcome all comments on how to make your stay even better. A Eufy doorbell is installed to help monitor snow plowing and parking. Guest access You may access all parts of the home with the exception of the old barn portion. Other things to note Just a reminder that there is a pet fee if you decide to bring the other members of the family. We kindly request that their nails are trimmed prior to arrival to preserve the wooden floors. Please note that the spiral staircase can be difficult to navigate with large suitcases. Please use the heated mudroom to store and dry out your ski equipment. Please make sure to keep the door closed.
