Chickadee Chalet

Welcome to Chickadee Chalet, one of Sunshine Valley’s original 1970's unique ski chalets. Perched on a wooded hillside is our family's cozy two bedroom, one bathroom retreat with lovely mountain view. Located between Hope and Manning Park, Chickadee is an ideal location to explore beautiful Sunshine Valley and surrounding area. Be as active as you like or bring your slippers, a favourite book, strike a fire in the wood stove, relax, feel the stress melt away. The space The main floor of this charming two story is a simple open living design with kitchen and bathroom. Enjoy the stunning mountain view from the living room patio door or step onto the covered front deck to take in the view and fresh mountain air where you'll also find a small table top propane BBQ. Watch movies from our VHS collection located in the pine dresser under the 32" smart TV or take advantage of our selection of board games and puzzles found in the china cabinet. There is a 5 disc CD player stereo system with an AUX output so you can bring your cable to connect smartphones to listen to your own tunes or bring your favourite CD's. The original wooden spiral staircase leads you to the second floor bedrooms. The front bedroom covered deck is the perfect place to enjoy a quiet read or take in the view. Chickadee Chalet has three wall mount electric heaters, two are located on the main floor and one in the upstairs hallway between the bedrooms. Our wood stove is very efficient, keeping the chalet warm and cozy. There will be a limited supply of firewood provided. Additional firewood can be purchased locally. It's very important that only dry seasoned wood and newspaper be burnt in the wood stove. No cooking on top of or in the wood stove. Please do not burn garbage, plastics, food, etc., in the wood stove. Kitchen features: -vintage 1950's electric GE Speedster stove -original cabinetry well stocked with dishes, cutlery, glasses, mugs, pots, pans, utensils, baking sheets, microwave popcorn bowl, etc.... (guests are expected to hand wash and dry dishes) -9.2 cu.ft. Fridge with bottom freezer -microwave -toaster, slow cooker, rice cooker -coffee maker (drip), french press -coffee (ground) -cooking oil, salt & pepper, assortment of spices, aluminum foil, plastic wrap -dish soap, j-cloths, paper towel, tea towels, oven mitts, hot pads Bathroom: -sink, toilet and 30"x30" shower stall -toilet paper, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash -hair dryer and hot air brush -hand towels, bath towels and face cloths -bring your own towels for use at the pool or the lake -Septic system: only flush toilet paper. (Please DO NOT flush feminine hygiene products, wet wipes (not even flushable ones), condoms, hair, Q-Tips, plastics, paper towels, garbage, food waste, grease, oil etc...) Bedrooms: -mountain view and upper deck access through front bedroom -woodland view from second bedroom -double size bed in each room -fresh sheets, pillows, blankets and duvets -vintage dressers, side tables with lamps -chairs -benches to place your suitcases -open closets with hangers Outdoor Decks: -wonderful views from all decks -lower covered deck is furnished with two chairs, a bench, and a propane BBQ (use aluminum foil (provided) to keep BBQ clean) -upper covered deck has two chairs and a fire escape ladder -open side deck has outdoor lighting (on a timer), a rocking bench and a table with four chairs. Guest access You will have the Chalet to yourself, including the the open side deck and two covered front decks. No guest access to the locked basement storage or the locked wood shed. There is parking for two vehicles at the top of the driveway. There is also space provided for parking at the entrance of the property at the bottom of the driveway. Do not park on the street. Note: the driveway is steep and there are many stairs to access the Chalet. Other things to note -Garbage can be disposed of at the Sunshine Valley Transfer Station located at 70860 Hwy #3 (4 minute drive west of SV) Monday & Friday 9 am - 2 pm, Saturday & Sunday 1 pm - 6 pm. -Empty cans/bottles are a welcomed donation to the Sunshine Valley Volunteer Fire Department located at 71731 Meadow Road (bins are located on the west side of the fire hall) -There are no kitchen or bathroom vents. When cooking or showering, temporarily open a window to prevent condensation. -You will hear the rain on Chickadee's metal roof. We find it very comforting and hope you do too. -Smoking or vaping of any kind is NOT PERMITTED inside or on the premises. To be clear this means no smoking inside the chalet, on any of the decks or outside on the property.
