Description

Hillside is a Victorian town house which is dated at around 1880. Set in an elevated position, Just a couple of minutes walk (200 Metres) up hill from the centre of this old Historic Market town. You will find us an ideal place for exploring Kendal and both of the beautiful Lake District and Dales National Parks. Local and surrounding treasures include the Brewery Arts Centre, Abbott Hall, the Quaker Tapestry exhibition, Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall. The space Hillside Bed & Breakfast is set in a Victorian residence located in the historic market town of Kendal. Just a 2 minute walk uphill from the town centre. We offer free breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and on-street permit parking. We have a limited number of permits which must be pre booked with us, at least 48hrs prior to arrival, for the duration of your stay, a maximum of 1 per room. The permits do not cover commercial vehicles and trailers. As a B&B Hillside has been around a long time some 30 years we think, we took over the running of Hillside in 2010. Each of our en-suite rooms at Hillside have an LCD TV, a hairdryer, and a well-stocked refreshment tray. Drying facilities and ironing supplies are also available. All rooms are located upstairs on the first or second floors. All our en-suites have eco/environmentally friendly free flow showers (no power showers here) and wherever possible we use low energy light bulbs. Breakfast highlights include fresh fruit, juices, cereals and yoghurts followed by your choice from our full English breakfast or take a lighter option, all made with quality ingredients, locally sourced as much as possible. Breakfast is served in our dining room between 8am and 9am. Guests can enjoy the town’s various country and riverside walks, as well as shopping in the historic ‘yards’. The Brewery Arts Centre is 5 minutes’ walk away, while Abbott Hall Art Gallery, Kendal Museum and the Quaker tapestry museum are all within a 10 minute walk away. Kendal is host to multiple festivals and events throughout the year. Guest access Guests have key access to the property and the room. During your stay We have a wealth of local knowledge which we will share with you at anytime. During breakfast we are available to help any guests with any request, we also find that other guests can offer help and advise. We have a large selection of local leaflets and maps available Other things to note Hillside may not be suitable for guests with reduced mobility, due to its location half way up a small but steep hill. From the pavement there are 10 steps, with a handrail, up to the front door.  HILLSIDE DOES NOT HAVE ANY PRIVATE PARKING. Free on street parking is possible with a visitor permit (subject to availability). However a permit can only be allocated if you provide Hillside with your registration number and time of arrival. You will then receive a confirmation email along with parking instructions.
